This collection of short plays is a passionate response to the effect of Clause 28 on the artistic and social language of a generation. The plays dance between intimate details and the big, historical picture, telling the story of a love affair from three different angles. Each piece is formally inventive & draws on a rich history of gay and queer theatre practice, whilst innovatively pushing the form forward. This collection includes: So Little of You Left - This begins as a traditional poetry reading and rapidly disintegrates into physical theatre, combining poetry, children’s games, physical risk & bold imagery to tell the story of a love affair from start to finish. So Little details the marks that love leaves on our bodies. His Spread Legs - One year later. Tom, alone in his flat in the early hours, begins to speak. A haunting and heartbreaking monologue, inspired by the biblical Song of Songs, excavating the relationship between love, language and identity. The Actor Has Told of His Pain - In this final installment, the two lovers from So Little meet again and a third character – another ex – helps to give shape to the stories they have been telling each other. A three-act play with a queer twist, about the act of leaving and being left, and coming to terms with the end of the world.
"I hope you are well, sound of your mind and enjoying your days and nights. I know, many of your questions remained unanswered and one such question is "Why did I disappear suddenly after a stupid quarrel with you?‟ Isn't it? Yes, it was a meaningless and useless quarrel to me also, as it was to you, but the things started wrong even before. Do you remember the night; we were together in my room? Don‟t waste your time in advocating who was faulty for what happened between us but try to remember how much you changed since then. If I am not wrong, you never loved me. You started with me flirting over phone and then sharing the kitchen but still you never loved me. And your decision of marrying me was nothing but the sympathy towards me. I know, you got emotional first after knowing about my family and then about Sumit's betrayal to me. And ultimately when the cancer grabbed me, you decided to help poor Parul by marrying her but then also you were confused about your decision. You may love me from your brain, by your body but never from the heart. I loved you very much and shared everything with you even my bed but your love hurt me more than Sumit's betrayal. I had promised myself that I would not contact you any day but I did because I am again on chemotherapy, my cancer was never gone, it is now at its second stage. Doctors said nothing but I am sure that I have almost finished my journey but a month or two more. I am done. Still I love you Mr. Revolution and so I don't want you to compromise with your life, you marry a beautiful girl but remember, this time you make a hearty relation. And lastly, you can't find me out and even don't try because if you search me, you will get a heartless and frozen body only, not Parul. Be happy forever and live a prosperous life. With love, Your Parul” This is Parul's letter to Biplob. Know what was wrong between them. This book is all about the heart touching story of Biplob, a budding doctor. What are the situations he goes through? How he manages? What does love mean to him? And at the end author asks: Is Everything Really Fair in Love and War? It is a story of love, reality and the compromised life that we live.....!!!!

How can we support our college students cultivating wide-awakeness, or a way of paying attention and being fully present to oneself and the world? How might we use mindfulness practices to help ourselves and our students become more wide awake, realize our interconnectedness, see what is possible, and transform our lives and the world around us? Educational philosopher Maxine Greene called for the need to intentionally promote wide-awakeness, which includes deepening our awareness, asking critical questions, recognizing that alternatives exist, and finding the agency to make changes personally and collectively. Mindfulness & Wide-Awakeness in Higher Education draws upon Greene’s work to explore the voices and experiences of college students who engaged in mindfulness practices during every class session in a cohort over an academic year and others who participated in a mindfulness group that met weekly for a year. The book explores how students used mindfulness to support their academic success, create a culture of connectedness, promote increased empathy, and fuel their sense of agency regarding social interactions and teaching the practices to others. In particular, the voices of students of color who chose to participate in the weekly mindfulness group are elevated and honored. A culminating chapter provides numerous examples of the mindfulness practices taught throughout the two-year study, serving as an accessible guide for higher education professionals interested in doing this work who would like ideas for where to begin or how to further develop their teaching and student support services. Overall, the book provides rich insights and practical approaches for how higher education faculty and staff can work together with students so we can all become more wide-awake to what is possible in our hearts, in our classrooms, on our campuses, and beyond. ENDORSEMENTS: "Mindfulness & Wide-Awakeness in Higher Education came into my life at the right time. The privileging of the voices of students of color and the collection of accessible mindfulness practices makes this a great tool for teacher educators across the country. If you are looking for a way to support your students’ mental health, academics, empathy, and agency, you will find all that and more in this book." — Denisha Jones, Sarah Lawrence College "This book contributes to mindfulness and contemplative practices in higher education with transformative learning and democratic education frameworks. It is an invitation to bring our whole authentic selves as faculty and students into the classrooms to be “wide awake” and see each other as human beings, not merely as our roles." — Bengü Ergüner-Tekinalp, Drake University "If you care deeply about the tangible outcomes of higher education for students and the degree to which those experiences awaken their curiosity about people, place, and planet, Mindfulness and Wide-Awakeness in Higher Education should be a must on your reading list. Sarah Montgomery provides an excellent framework to illustrate the power of teaching mindfulness and what is possible when we make time and space for woke teaching and learning." — Paulette Patterson Dilworth, The University of Alabama at Birmingham
