Do you want to learn how to make your life in South Korea as awesome as possible? Then consider picking up this book filled with detailed tips for how to do that. How to Thrive in South Korea is what you need to help you get more awesome in your expat life. It's something that I wish I'd had when I first moved to this amazing country so that I could have gotten just beyond surviving much sooner. I've lived in my adopted home for a decade and during that time, I've met an astounding number of foreigners who were thriving here while I've also met plenty of them who clearly were only surviving, and just barely in some cases. Some people who've been here a long time still in survival mode, living in tiny apartments, bouncing around from sub-par job to sub-par job and doing nothing to plan for their futures. Conversely, I've met people who, even though they had only been living in Korea for a few months had clearly adapted and were making positive, healthy and sustainable lives for themselves. How to Thrive in South Korea is a collection of tips from long-term expats who are far beyond surviving and are thriving in Korea. They have a lot of wisdom to share with people who are thinking about coming to Korea, have recently just arrived or perhaps even been around for years but want to pick up a few new tips for making their lives better. Investing time, money and energy into getting beyond just surviving in South Korea is something that you'll never regret. How to Thrive in South Korea: 97 Tips from Expats will help you get there.

Although stereotypically homogenized and hostile to immigrants, Japan has experienced an influx of foreigners from Asia and Latin America in recent decades. In Fighting for Foreigners, Apichai W. Shipper details how, in response, Japanese citizens have established a variety of local advocacy groups-some faith based, some secular-to help immigrants secure access to social services, economic equity, and political rights. Drawing on his years of ethnographic fieldwork and a pragmatic account of political motivation he calls associative activism, Shipper asserts that institutions that support illegal foreigners make the most dramatic contributions to democratic multiculturalism. The changing demographics of Japan have been stimulating public discussions, the political participation of marginalized groups, and calls for fair treatment of immigrants. Nongovernmental organizations established by the Japanese have been more effective than the ethnically particular associations formed by migrants themselves, Shipper finds. Activists who initially work in concert to solve specific and local problems eventually become more ambitious in terms of political representation and opinion formation. As debates about the costs and benefits of immigration rage across the developed world, Shipper's research offers a refreshing new perspective: rather than undermining democracy in industrialized society, immigrants can make a positive institutional contribution to vibrant forms of democratic multiculturalism.

While an intricate blend of historical, economic and cultural obstacles can explain the hustle of job seeking here, we believe that there is also an obvious lack of reliable resources to guide and support the community of foreign professionals living in this beautiful land. That is the exact reason why we created Korea Professional in March 2020. We first built a job seeking platform, called koreaprofessional.com, where we post fresh job offers in English, daily. Following the swift success of the platform, we committed to feed our audience with real life experience and expertise. We organized networking events where our community gets together and listen to HR experts and successful expats' insights while sharing tips and drinks. After nine months of extraordinary hard work, we decided that it was time to condensate all information, experience, expertise and resource into one single employment guide. KP's Employment Guide in Korea" is everything you need in order to boost your job seeking journey or your career shift.
