DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe author investigates the humor behind amateur radio, a hobby that has captivated numerous people throughout the world for almost a century. Contrary to popular belief, the hobby continues to grow as it develops and incorporates new technologies, including digital communications, computers, internet, satellites, and so on. While some are into building their own equipment, others are more focused on chasing faint signals in distant lands or competing for bragging rights in various contests. Most would gladly consider themselves as nerds for it takes a lot of dedication and knowledge to obtain a license and successfully operate a radio station. Among all the technical mumbo-jumbo, however, there is a lighter side, which is brought out in Hogwash for Hamsters. When we take ourselves less seriously, we become even better ambassadors to the world. So enjoy the limericks, songs, riddles, one liners, and stories. It might just make your day a little brighter.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis book is a work of fiction though much of it is based on real events that occurred throughout my time in Afghanistan. My experiences have been modified, twisted, and exaggerated for the sake of humor and story. Members of the real Task Force Titan may recognize roots of many scenes therein and I hope you recall those times with fond feelings. It should be noted that, as a work of fiction, all characters in this book are also fictional. For those who were there, if you should suspect a piece of yourself in any of these characters, good or bad, you may be right. I carry pieces of you with me wherever I go in life. Figuratively, of course. I don't have physical pieces of any of you. Except, for the lock of hair I stole from Captain Michaud while he was sleeping. Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is don't get all whiny and aggrieved if you think a character is based on you and you don't like the way the character is portrayed. Suck it up, buttercup. A story has to have antagonists, right? It's not always about you. Stop being selfish. Lastly, it is not this story's intent to downplay the sacrifice of veterans, but more to dispel the notion that just wearing a uniform makes you a hero. Like the civilian world, the military is made up of all kinds: hard workers and sandbaggers, optimists and assholes, straight shooters and functional alcoholics. Most of us wore many of these hats at different times?sometimes all at once. We were never perfect, but we were always there. Gallantly Forward!

DOWNLOAD EBOOKPatience is a South African penguin. She is small at roughly 6 pounds and approximately 20 inches tall; but at 24 years old, she is the "penguin in charge" of the penguin exhibit at New Orleans's Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina hits, devastating the city and surrounding areas with its catastrophic winds and flooding. The aquarium is severely damaged. With no electricity or relief in sight, the temperature in the aquarium reaches dangerously high degrees, putting the penguins in peril. Patience, and the 18 other penguins, along with some of the other zoo animals, must leave their home and their favorite human, Tom, the penguin keeper. Tom drives his penguins to Baton Rouge where an airplane transfers them to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California. Here the penguins will recuperate and live until they can return home to New Orleans. After nine long months away from Tom and their home, the aquarium is finally restored. And Patience, who has been patient, and her penguins return to New Orleans to a cheering homecoming.
