DOWNLOAD EBOOKMatthew Ellison (1793-1865) was the son of Matthew Ellison (1752-1830) and Jane Bolton (d.1829) of Chipping, Lancashire, England. He married Jane Wilson (1800-1876), the daughter of John Wilson (1755-1827) and Ann Langton (d.1837) of near Clitheroe, Lancashire, England, 15 December 1817. Their early married life was spent in the vicinity of Clitheroe, Waddington and Bashaw Hall in western Yorkshire, where he worked in factories. They had ten children. He and his wife were converted to the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1838. They emigrated with their family to America in 1841 and settled at Nauvoo, Illinois. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Utah and Wyoming.
