The present known maple hosts are Silver maple, boxelder, Japanese red maple, Norway maple, sycamore maple, red maple, and sugar maple. Some of the symptoms of the disease, such as sudden wilting, thin foliage, slime flux, and dead streaks in the trunk, occur on only part of the wilt-infected maples, but the sapwood of all infected parts contains characteristic green streaks.
