"Topical Lists," it will be seen, is designed to serve as a syllabus for a course of study, or reading, in South Carolina history. The subject is presented under thirty topics. An outline in each case is followed by (1) a reference to the pertinent passages in the most reliable general history of the state, (2) references in other secondary works, (3) a selected list of source materials, and (4) references to the few textbooks and workbooks that are now available.
