In Gone but Not Furgotten, the sixth in Cate Conte's Cat Café beloved cozy mystery series, Daybreak Island has a killer on the loose...and this villain isn’t afraid to use their claws. Maddie James has big plans for the summer season at JJ's House of Purrs. But when her friend, master meditator and Tai Chi teacher Cass Hendricks, brings a potential animal hoarding situation to her attention, Maddie has to refocus her attention on the furry felines who may need a helping paw. Cass has brought his Zen teachings to Fisherman's Cove—a tiny, working class town on Daybreak Island—and one of his students, Laurel, has been on the receiving end more than one hissy fit from her neighbors, mostly because of her cats. When Maddie and Cass go to Laurel's to check out the situation, not only do they find a plethora of cats in need, but also a dead body. Laurel appears to have had an unfortunate accident falling down her stairs, but Maddie gets a sneaking suspicion that something more sinister might be behind her death. When she voices her concerns, she's horrified that it's Cass who falls under suspicion. With Grandpa Leo's help, Maddie has to dig into the secrets this small community is keeping close to find out why Laurel really died before Cass is put behind bars . . . or the killer strikes again.

This is a collection of short stories mostly from my childhood growing up in Central Florida. Most of the stories are true and my characters are real. However, I have included some stories that have just enough truth to keep it real and just enough embellishment to keep it entertaining. I began writing these stories as a journal of sorts to be able to pass on to my children and grandchildren some stories of my childhood. After I wrote five or six, I thought I had exhausted all my memories. However, as I wrote, one memory led to another, and another, and so on. I had always been convinced that my childhood had been relatively insignificant. As I took the opportunity to look back on my childhood through the eyes of a man in his 60's, I slowly began to realize I had a great childhood. I just didn't realize it at the time. You see, neglected to ask my grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and siblings enough questions to really get to know them. I knew what their adult lives were like, but I now wonder what their childhood was like. As I wrote, I would post on Facebook Group pages for my hometown, which was the Winter Haven/Auburndale area. The stories seemed to hit home with many folks, and I was encouraged to assemble my stories into a book. I also created a few videos about growing up and I have included links to those in the ebook edition.

"This book examines the ways that Atlantans have remembered the Civil War since 1865. During the Civil War, Atlanta became the second most important city in the Confederacy, after Richmond. Since the end of the war, Atlanta's civic and business leaders promoted its image as a 'Phoenix City' rising from the ashes of General William T. Sherman's wartime destruction. According to this carefully constructed view, Atlanta respects its Confederate past while also moving forward with business growth and 'progress.' Yet in spite of its economic success since 1865, Atlanta is a city where the meaning of the Civil War continues to be debated and contested, where whites and blacks remember the war in different and conflicting ways. Periodically, racial tension has marred the city's reputation and its progressive spirit. Today, Atlanta (and the South) have achieved reconciliation with the North but debate over Civil War memory is ongoing"--
