Not a Fan has already called more than one million readers to consider the demands and rewards of being a true disciple--moving from fan to follower in their relationship with Jesus. After years of serving God, pastor and bestselling author Kyle Idleman had a startling revelation: for too long, he had been living as a fan of Jesus; someone who tried to make Christianity seem as appealing, comfortable, and convenient as he possibly could to others. Idleman decided something had to change--he needed to embark on the journey of becoming a completely committed follower of God, not just a fan. Fans want to be close enough to Jesus to get all the benefits, but not so close that it requires sacrifice, while followers are all in and completely committed to Christ. Not a Fan gives you the tools you need to determine exactly where you stand when it comes to your relationship with Jesus. No matter where you are in your walk with Christ, Not a Fan calls you to consider the demands and rewards of being a true disciple. With frankness and a touch of humor, Idleman invites you to: Examine your relationship with God Determine if you're following Jesus or just following the rules Pray the way Jesus prayed Start truly living for the one who gave his all for you This expanded and updated version of Not a Fan also includes a new introduction and an entirely new chapter about how to practically live out the book's core message. Join Idleman as he challenges you to take an honest look at your relationship with Jesus and discover what it really means to be a follower.
Join Greg Laurie, pastor and bestselling author of Steve McQueen: The Salvation of an American Icon, as he takes you on a personal journey into the life and legend of Johnny Cash. At the peak of his career, Cash had done it all—living the ultimate rags-to-riches story of growing up on a cotton farm in the Deep South to becoming a Nashville and Hollywood sensation, singing alongside heroes like Elvis Presley and performing for several American presidents. But through all of this, Cash was troubled. By the time he released the iconic Man in Black album in 1971, the middle-aged icon was broken down, hollow-eyed, and wrung out. In his search for peace, Cash became embroiled in controversy. He was arrested five times in seven years. His drug- and alcohol-induced escapades led to car accidents and a forest fire that devastated 508 acres. His time was divided between Jesus and jail, gospel tunes and the “Cocaine Blues.” But by the end of his life, Cash was speaking openly about his “unshakeable faith.” What caused the superstar to turn from his conflicting passions to embrace a life in Christ? Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon dives deep into the singer’s inner demons, triumphs, and gradual return to faith. Laurie interviews Cash’s family, friends, and business associates to reveal how the singer’s true success came through finding the only Person whose star was bigger than his own.

When He came to earth, Jesus Christ was rejected in every quarter in which He stepped. The Creator was rejected by His own creation. “He came to His own and His own received Him not,” said John. For this reason, Jesus Christ had “no where to lay His head.” There was one exception, however. A little village just outside of Jerusalem named Bethany. Bethany was the only place on earth where Jesus was completely received. God’s Favorite Place on Earth is a retelling of Jesus’ many visits to Bethany and a relaying of the message it holds for us today. Frank Viola presents a beautifully crafted narrative from the viewpoint of Lazarus, one of the people who lived in Bethany with his two sisters. This incomparable story not only brings the Gospel narratives to life, but it addresses the struggle against doubt, discouragement, fear, guilt, rejection, and spiritual apathy that challenges countless Christians today. In profoundly moving prose, God’s Favorite Place on Earth will captivate your heart with its beauty, charm, and depth. In this book you will discover how to live as a “Bethany” in our world today, being set free to love and follow Jesus like never before.
My life with Christ has been such a blessed journey. I am able to see what Gods plan was for my life and not my own plans. I wanted other people to know that Father God is a personal God, and he really wants us to trust him with our lives, get to know him, spend time with him, and build a relationship with him. He is so faithful. I pray that you see how God worked in my life, and that this builds your faith.
This book, Almost to Heaven by Jean is written to thank the community, church, hospital and Jean’s family for all that was accomplished while working together with Jean’s emergency care one important morning. These values brought Jean back into realizing the importance of why she is here, on earth. The book is an account of Jean’s Near Death Experience with God. Jean died on August, 26, 2013 and was given another chance of life on August 28, 2013 because of the of expertise of Dr. Jeff Rayl with the New Ulm’ Medical Center and Dr. Tim Henry at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in the cities. Jean’s life was given back because of more than the medical care she received. It was through her husband, Rod, daughters, Lori, and Rachel, sisters, parents aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and church, co-workers, friends, neighbors that showed Jean what can happen when a community works together and how the power of prayer truly works. This book is written as well to remind the media how positive stories can always develop from stories/experiences if we choose to work together even in a smaller community for the good of the whole, the sake of one person. For those reading this story, please know, your prayers will always be remembered in my heart. It is three years since the time this experience happened. Even though the book is technically finished, the story continues as Jean pledges to serve the New Ulm community and God while distributing and setting up the most precious gift we have on Earth, the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist while being in Full Communion of the Catholic Church! PLEASE KNOW THAT NO MATTER WHAT AREA OF LIFE I’M LIVING IT’LL BE LIVED IN FULL COMMUNION OF THE CHURCH TO GLORIFY GOD’S NAME! MAY ONLY GOOD COME OUT OF THIS BOOK!
