DOWNLOAD EBOOKMy story ‘The Girl Who Ran Away’ is an alluring fable of a girl named Ghazal Dialik, who ran away from her home at the age of fifteen because her parents compelled her to drop studies and marry a boy from her community. My story portrays a true picture of the gruesome scenario of our society. Few months back I read an article in the newspaper about a girl from a village in South India who scored 92% marks in her board exams. She had to run away from her house to save herself from the trap of child marriage. This article inspired me to write the story of Ghazal Dialik. Ghazal is a young, teenager brimming with energy and enthusiasm to shape her life with education. Her thirst for education led her to cross all the hurdles on the way. It is necessary to narrate Ghazal's story to my readers because it's not unique. Even after so many years of independence India has not attained 100% literacy. After reading this story we should pledge that our generation should be the last to grapple for education. If we (our generation) all stand united against illiteracy, we may hope to welcome a generation where education is not an opulence.
