DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe Black Warrior Basin, located in northwestern Alabama and northeastern Mississippi, is a triangular area of 35,000 square miles. This report's objectives is to characterize its lower-permeability gas-bearing formations for inclusion in the Gas Research Institute tight gas sands program. The characterized reservoir units include a summary of the regional geologic setting, hydrocarbon distribution and production, exploration activity and pipeline availability. Within the study area, the Lower Mississippian Carter Sandstone may have sufficient extent, reservoir characteristics and gas reserves to be of interest to the tight gas sands program. cf. Document control sheet.
