In prosecuting his investigations, he has derived in formation from many sources. The schaff-her zog Encyclopedia, New York, 1888, in four volumes, edit ed by the late Dr. Philip Schaff, has furnished much of the information respecting churches in the United States; and Castell Hopkins' Encyclopedia of Canada, Toronto, 1898, in five volumes, has been useful in what appertains to the Canadian Churches.
