The Expert Panel was appointed by the government following the announcement of the new forest management agreements (FMAs) in northern Alberta. A series of public meetings and workshops were held in northern Alberta, after which the Panel reviewed the issues arising, as well as reviewing any other forest land management issue in Alberta but not the environmental impacts of the proposed pulp mill facilities.
