This report summarizes forest pest conditions in Newfoundland and labrador and forecasts infestations of major defoliators for the coming year. Summaries were compiled from information collected by Forest Insect and Disease Survey staff. Summaries are given for insects such as the hemlock looper, spruce budworm, sawflies, cutworms, the gypsy moth and the forest tent caterpillar, for diseases such as canker, root rot and blight, for some animals, and for abiotic damage from frost, snow, winter drying and leaf scorch.
