Ingress and egress to and from fires, through the police lines, shall be made as near the center of the street as practicable. Section 25. No officer or member shall be entitled to pay for less than fifteen days' services.. All appointments shall, so far as practicable, be made to date from the first or fifteenth of each month, and any member desiring to resign shall give written notice thereof at least five days previous to the time of such intended resignation. Section 26. All charges for violating the Rules of this Department, or neglect of duty, against officers or members of this Department, bellringers, or telegraph operators, shall be made to this Board in writing. Section 27. Violations of any of the Rules of the Department shall be punished by fine, suspension or dismissal, as the Board may direct. Section 28. Attaches of the Chief's office, and workmen at the repairshop and yard, may, for neglect or inattention to duty, be dismissed by the Chief Engineer, subject to the approval of the Board. Section 29. Permits of absence from duty can only be granted to the Chief Engineer by the Board of Commissioners; to the Assistant Engineer and the engineers of districts, by the Chief Engineer; to the foremen of companies by the engineer of the district; and to the assistant foremen and subordinate officers and men, by the foremen of the several companies; such leave of absence, however, not to extend beyond twelve hours of the day on which it is granted, without special authority of the Board. Section 30. No officer or member of this Department shall receive any fee or reward for extraordinary services rendered as a fireman, without special...
