The aim of this book is to show that where light shines, there also force radiates; and there forms result from movements caused by ray-force, or by light. That is the sum of the whole; but to reach that point is a long stage in an endless journey. The start is always the worst stage. A plan must be laid, and luggage packed to suit the plan and fit available space, if things are to go smoothly after the start. If a traveller means to write as he goes, the means ought to be in a special pocket; if he wants to smoke while he writes, he should have baccy and lights handy. "Tobacco comforteth the spirits and dischargeth weariness," as the sage Lord Bacon sagely remarked.
