The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) are proposing to improve 44 miles of U.S. Highway 20 (U.S. 20) in Woodbury, Ida, and Sac Counties, Iowa. The project study area is located in a rural part of western Iowa. The proposed project begins 3.5 miles east of Iowa 140 (IA 140) near Moville and extends east to the north junction of U.S. 20 and U.S. 71 near Early. The study area extends 500 feet north and south of U.S. 20 for a total width of 1,000 feet.

The twelfth-century French poet Chrétien de Troyes is a major figure in European literature. His courtly romances fathered the Arthurian tradition and influenced countless other poets in England as well as on the continent. Yet because of the difficulty of capturing his swift-moving style in translation, English-speaking audiences are largely unfamiliar with the pleasures of reading his poems. Now, for the first time, an experienced translator of medieval verse who is himself a poet provides a translation of Chrétien’s major poem, Yvain, in verse that fully and satisfyingly captures the movement, the sense, and the spirit of the Old French original. Yvain is a courtly romance with a moral tenor; it is ironic and sometimes bawdy; the poetry is crisp and vivid. In addition, the psychological and the socio-historical perceptions of the poem are of profound literary and historical importance, for it evokes the emotions and the values of a flourishing, vibrant medieval past.
The purpose of the 19th Avenue North Extension project is to provide a roadway connection between Mill Creek Parkway and U.S. 67 that will reduce congestion and improve safety on key transportation corridors and promote economic development opportunities in the Mill Creek Parkway area in Clinton, Iowa. The segment of the project between Mill Creek Parkway and Springdale Drive has already been approved (Categorical Exclusion signed 5/16/2007), and is planned to be constructed in 2010.

The Murder Case that Shook a Generation On 2nd November 1952, two teenagers were trapped by police on a warehouse roof. In the course of what the national press were to describe as 'a Chicago-style gun battle', P.C. Sidney Miles was shot between the eyes and died. 16-year-old Christopher Craig and 19-year-old Derek Bentley were subsequently arrested and sent to trial. They came to personify the disaffected youth of post-war Britain, but Derek Bentley became much more. His story and ultimate fate are unique in the annals of criminal history.
