An explosive end to the Walking Between Worlds trilogy. Heaven is in turmoil over the war being waged below. Hell is a ravaged wasteland, its beauty lost to all but ancient memory. Earth is trapped between, unaware of the army of supernaturals battling for their souls. A champion emerges to lead them, and to search for their lost king. His new student sees the timeless art of dealing with demons in an astonishingly unique way; it makes William question everything he is supposed to be teaching the warrior apprentice, while battling day and night to save the way of the Walker. Ruling from their lofty perches, the angels have long since lost their way. They want control of everything, and will stop at nothing to get it. Barely an army, the remaining demon hunters dodge plots from above and fire from below in their hopes to secretly save the worlds they walk between once more. The dragons that reign in Hell have grown more brutal over long centuries; when one queen fell, a more fearsome dragon took her place. It will take more than one miracle to stop her from setting all the worlds aflame forever. Fall of the Walker King is the third novel in the Walking Between Worlds universe, a supernatural story set in Heaven, Hell, and San Francisco. Body Politics and the Fictional Double Edited by Debra Walker King Examines the disjunction between women's appearance and reality. In recent years, questions concerning "the body" and its place in postmodern discourses have taken center stage in academic disciplines. Body Politics joins these discussions by focusing on the challenges women face when their externally defined identities and representations as bodies -- their body fictions -- speak louder than what they know to be their true selves. Racialized, gendered, or homophobic body fictions disfigure individuals by placing them beneath a veil of invisibility and by political, emotional, or spiritual suffocation. As objects of interpretation, "female bodies" in search of health care, legal assistance, professional respect, identity confirmation, and financial security must first confront their fictionalized doubles in a collision that, in many cases, ends in disappointment, distress, and even suicide. The contributors reflect on women's day-to-day lives and the cultural productions (literature, MTV, film, etc.) that give body fictions their power and influence. By exploring how these fictions are manipulated politically, expressively, and communally, they offer reinterpretations that challenge the fictional double while theorizing the discursive and performative forms it takes. Contributors include Trudier Harris, Maude Hines, S. Yumiko Hulvey, Debra Walker King, Sue V. Rosser, Stephanie A. Smith, Maureen Turim, Caroline Vercoe, Gloria Wade-Gayles, and Rosemary Weatherston. Debra Walker King, Associate Professor of English at the University of Florida, Gainesville, is author of Deep Talk: Reading African American Literary Names. Demons are created by a mind at war with itself... The demons on Earth are influencing humanity’s path far too much, and devils are finding doorways to the realm that did not exist before. Only a demon created in Heaven and forged in the fires of Hell can make a difference when Heaven and Earth begin to bleed into each other. Only a demon with the power of an angel and the heart of a devil can find a way to drive the devils back to Hell and keep all those demons in check. But why would he want to? God’s back turned on Roche a long time ago. The one most dear to him is by definition his greatest enemy. Roche has no place in Heaven, no friends in Hell, and no fun on Earth. The more his soul descends into darkness, the more he is convinced that reality itself is fundamentally flawed. He must find a way to understand his own existence and reconcile it in a way he can accept. Otherwise, he will have to end all the worlds. The Demon Be Damned is a prequel to the story told in the Walking Between Worlds trilogy. The only witness there from the start is the original demon Roche. His tale goes back, way back…and we have to trace it to the very beginning to see just how vital his role has been in the continued existence of humanity.
