DOWNLOAD EBOOKIn 'Fables of Infidelity and Facts of Faith', Robert Patterson takes on the notable thinkers in history whom he thinks are responsible for the rise of heretical ideas, such as Charles Darwin and Thomas Paine, and denounces their ideas as a form of "infidelity to God". Patterson, while not presenting an argument for Christianity, examines the evidence of infidelity in the world and exposes the folly of various novel systems of ungodly religions. In one chapter, he argues against the theory of evolution and highlights its illogical and incoherent aspects. As he puts it, infidelity has taken on various forms, from scientific lectures to novels, magazines, and daily newspapers—and they have been successful at turning people away from God. Patterson's goal is to awaken the spirit of inquiry among readers and encourage them to prayerfully read works on the historical evidence of the truth of the gospel.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis is not so much a volume upon the Evidences of Christianity, as an examination of the Evidences of Infidelity. When the Infidel tells us that Christianity is false, and asks us to reject it, he is bound of course to provide us with something better and truer instead; under penalty of being considered a knave trying to swindle us out of our birthright, and laughed at as a fool, for imagining that he could persuade mankind to live and die without religion.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKOur author, born 2nd of November, 1805, was the eldest son of a Belfast merchant, then extensively engaged in the linen trade; and, being intended by his parents for the same business, he received such an education as was at the time considered suitable for commercial life. In 1821 he was apprenticed to a highly respectable firm in the linen business, the staple trade of the North of Ireland. The senior partner of that firm, himself a keen sportsman, has survived the subject of the present memoir, and is not unfrequently referred to in the volumes on " The Birds of Ire- land," as an authority on their habits.
