Experiment Number One is a story that centers on a character I created during my time in the Marine Corps. Creating this character has helped to take my thoughts away from the stress of day to day life in the military. Honestly, I don't know where I would be without my characters giving me an out. With this, my goal is to make a manga out of this story; and ultimately, I would love to see this made into an anime. For the time being, I just want to share with you all a little piece of what kept me going. The main character goes by the name of Blade Joker, formally known as Staff Sergeant Brian Brass. It's a bit repetitive, but it is something that has stuck with me for a while. He is an veteran who was experimented on by an enemy during war time. During this time he was forced to endure immense pain both physically and psychologically. Because of the experimentation that happened to him, Blade was manipulated by a doctor into being a weapon for the enemy. Blade spends several years working as a puppet for the enemy before finally being able to break free from the doctor and her experiments. Following this, he starts a family and finds himself being the owner of a multi-million dollar business that makes high tech gear and devices. During his free time he helps his old friend Drevo solve cases that come up on the police database. Everything seems perfect in his life until some trouble stirs up in the shadows.

For the 10th anniversary of the #1 New York Times bestseller, a new release complete with a brand-new Manifesting Scavenger Hunt. E-Squared could best be described as a lab manual with simple experiments to prove once and for all that reality is malleable, that consciousness trumps matter, and that you shape your life with your mind. Rather than take it on faith, you are invited to conduct nine 48-hour experiments to prove there really is a positive, loving, totally hip force in the universe. Yes, you read that right. It says prove. The experiments, each of which can be conducted with absolutely no money and very little time expenditure, demonstrate that spiritual principles are as dependable as gravity, as consistent as Newton’s laws of motion. For years, you’ve been hoping and praying that spiritual principles are true. E-Squared lets you know it for sure. NEW in this edition: A note from Pam Grout on the 10th anniversary of E-Squared, plus a brand-new Manifesting Scavenger Hunt with even more opportunities to prove your manifesting mojo. "I absolutely love this book. Pam has combined a writing style as funny as Ellen DeGeneres with a wisdom as deep and profound as Deepak Chopra's to deliver a powerful message and a set of experiments that will prove to you beyond a doubt that our thoughts really do create our reality." — Jack Canfield, co-creator of the New York Times best-selling Chicken Soup for the Soul® series

In Fire and Power William D. Atwill maps the cultural contours of space-age America through readings of some of the era's most popular and influential narratives: Saul Bellow's Mr. Sammler's Planet, John Updike's Rabbit Redux, Norman Mailer's Of a Fire on the Moon, Tom Wolfe's The Right Stuff, Thomas Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow, and Don DeLillo's Ratner's Star. Together, Atwill demonstrates, these key texts comprise a literary history of the space age, an exploration of the novel's possibilities in uncertain times, and a disturbing critique of postwar society. The massive technological enterprise known as the Manned Space Program was, in Atwill's words, “the historical marker of our age,” and in our race to the moon, he says, Bellow, Updike, Mailer, Wolfe, Pynchon, and DeLillo found a trope for the postmodern condition. To these writers, the space program was the most visible and outward sign of a radical shift in the culture that fostered it—a shift from modernism's search for interior, individual unity amidst chaos to the postmodern perception of the individual's fragmentation and uncertain standing in the world.

Owing to the advent of computers, experiments are becoming an increasingly important part of mathematics. This book provides guidance to students doing experiments in mathematics. The aim is to stimulate interest in mathematics through examples and experiments. Each experiment in the book starts with an interesting problem. The students are expected to work with these problems on computers, try to find the solutions themselves, and experience the scientific exploration in the process. The problems which the authors have chosen cover a wide spectrum in mathematics, ranging from calculus, number theory, coding and probability to geometry and chaos. They are introduced in a simple way and yet show great depth. The discussions are thorough but not lengthy. This book is useful not only to mathematics students, but also to students in all areas of sciences who are interested in learning some of the mathematical tools. It provides a hands-on approach to the most fundamental issues in mathematics — an approach which may help to revolutionize the teaching of mathematics.
