“As a man thinks, so is he.” Personally, and socially, so is he. Yet if this is true, then "as a man thinks" has led us into the thick of global crisis. What exactly is it, about our thinking, that fails us? What has gone so wrong? There are firm reasons why we may hope for new direction. Firstly, we have a new view of the connectedness of all things. Never before has this encompassed so much. It makes a crucial difference to philosophy. Secondly, when we recast philosophy’s high-level concepts in more concrete terms, it becomes possible to discuss them without confusion. This is the method of this book. There is much of interest for the theologian, too. Legendary film director Ingmar Bergman once wrote, “What will happen to us who want to believe, but can not?” His “can not” had to do with what Professor Karen Barad calls the “hegemony of physics”. Everything, Briefly details why it is impossible, in fact, to believe in a closed universe of cause and effect.

Many questions arise as to where we fit as Christians and non-Christians with the Soul and Spirit aspects of our being, and thus how this actually in works our lives. The author Stephen Duff takes us step by step on an unfolding journey of discovery from our normal considerations into a deeper understanding of the heavenlies and its populous. We shall look at how the spaces in the firmament exist, and thus our own spiritual and soul make up. We shall look at the heavens and thus the nature of both the Angels and the Demons that frequent our planet, and how they live and have their being; and thus how they impact us and what we can do with this. Stephen takes our journey both biographically as we share some of his personal heavenly related experiences, and from his many years of Bible based studies to bring our hearts to a closer Love with Jesus. Give it to God in the Love of Jesus moves away from the media sensationalism that clouds these misunderstandings to define a more realistic biblical view of the heavenly populous; which brings us to a much deeper comprehension and thus a more loving relationship in Jesus Christ.

Compelling collections of short fiction and essays by the Pulitzer Prize–winning author of The Color Purple and “marvelous writer” (San Francisco Chronicle). Whether she is writing fiction or nonfiction, sharing personal reflections or expressing political views, Alice Walker is without question “one of [our] best American writers” (The Washington Post). The first African American woman to win a Pulitzer Prize—for The Color Purple—Walker is both a committed artist and engaged activist, as reflected in the four works in this volume. Living by the Word: In this “entertaining and often stirring” follow-up to In Search of Our Mothers’ Gardens, Walker reflects on issues both personal and global, from her experience with the filming of The Color Purple, to the history of African American narrative traditions, to global threats of pollution and nuclear war (Library Journal). You Can’t Keep a Good Woman Down: The women in these “consummately skillful short stories” face their problems head on, proving powerful and self-possessed even when degraded by others—sometimes by those closest to them (San Francisco Chronicle). But even as the female protagonists face exploitation, social inequalities, and casual cruelties, Walker leavens her stories with ample wit and “[enters] their experience with sympathy but without sentimentality” (The Washington Post). In Love & Trouble: Walker’s debut short fiction collection features stories of women traveling with the weight of broken dreams, with kids in tow, with doubt and regret, with memories of lost loves, with lovers who have their own hard pasts and hard edges. Some from the South, some from the North, some rich, and some poor, the “marvelous characters” that inhabit In Love & Trouble “come away transformed by knowledge and love but most of all by wonder” (Essence). In Search of Our Mother’s Gardens: In essays both personal and political about her own work and other writers such as Zora Neale Hurston, Flannery O’Connor, and Jean Toomer; the Civil Rights Movement; antinuclear activism; feminism; and a childhood injury that left her emotionally scarred and the healing words of her daughter, Walker “reflects not only ideas but a life that has breathed color, sound, and soul into fiction and poetry—and into our lives as well” (San Francisco Chronicle). Includes a new letter written by the author on In Search of Our Mother’s Gardens.

Would you risk your afterlife to get back to those you love? Karl has one more adventure in him. Can he stop the greatest evil he's ever faced, or will this be his final adventure for the wrong reasons? Reviews: I heard this was weird, and it definitely is, but the best kind of weird! The author has found a great balance between comedy and fantasy, and I love the characters I met on Karl's journey. It's witty, charming and full of creativity, but it's all so easy to imagine. I can see why some people have likened it to Pratchett, but I think this is somewhere between Pratchett's whimsy and The Princess Bride's charm. I can't wait to read the second book Get the complete collection of the comedy fantasy series now. It's packed with magic, monsters, adventure, strange creatures, and characters you'll wish were your friends, and some you're glad you don't know.
