CETTE ETUDE A POUR BUT DE COMPRENDRE ET DE MODELISER LES PHENOMENES PHYSIQUES INTERVENANT LORS DU MELANGE DE DEUX JETS DE GAZ NON REACTIF, PRESENTANT DE FORTS GRADIENTS THERMIQUES, A DE FAIBLE NOMBRE DE MACH (INFERIEURS A 0,3). LES CARACTERISTIQUES DYNAMIQUES DES DEUX JETS PERMETTENT DE SUPPOSER QUE L'ECOULEMENT RESULTANT DU MELANGE EST INCOMPRESSIBLE DILATABLE. UNE RESOLUTION NUMERIQUE DES EQUATIONS DE CONSERVATION DU FLUIDE AINSI QUE DES EQUATIONS DE FERMETURE TURBULENTES DE TYPE (K, ) A ETE FAITE PAR UNE METHODE DE VOLUMES FINIS. UNE COMPARAISON DES RESULTATS OBTENUS AVEC DES RESULTATS EXPERIMENTAUX DE LA NASA DANS DES CONFIGURATIONS AXISYMETRIQUES ET SANS RECIRCULATION A PERMIS DE VERIFIER L'HYPOTHESE D'INCOMPRESSIBILITE DANS LA ZONE DE MELANGE ET MIS EN RELIEF L'IMPORTANCE DU NOMBRE DE PRANDTL LIE A LA DIFFUSION TURBULENTE DE LA TEMPERATURE. L'EPAISSEUR DES ZONES DE MELANGES THERMIQUE ET CINETIQUE EST SOUS-EVALUEE PAR LE CALCUL QUELLE QUE SOIT LA VALEUR DE PRANDTL CHOISIE (0,1-1,5). LE MEILLEUR ACCORD ENTRE L'EXPERIENCE ET LE CALCUL A ETE OBTENU, POUR LES PROFILS DE VITESSE ET DE TEMPERATURE, POUR UN PRANDTL EGAL A 0,5, CORRESPONDANT A UNE VALEUR CHOISIE, EN GENERAL, POUR DES JETS LIBRES

Genmix: A General Computer Program for Two-dimensional Parabolic Phenomena explains a computer program called GENMIX. The main intention of the program is to be used as a tool of instructions. The name of the program is a mixture of two considerations: its generality and its concern for mixing processes. The book aims to help the potential user to understand the physical and mathematical basis of the topic computer program. It is also the aim of the book to make the program applicable to practical problems. The book is arranged in such a way as to parallel a course of lectures and associated computer-workshop sessions wherein the student is allowed to do some elementary computations as soon as he has gained some knowledge of the method. The book contains the mathematical, physical, and computer-coding aspects of the program. Concepts such as the boundary layer, two-dimensional, and steady- flow are defined and discussed in depth. The text will be a useful tool for computer instructors and students.

The Conference Proceedings contains 38 papers presented at the Propulsion and Energetics Panel 73rd Symposium on 'Aircraft Fire Safety' which was held 22 - 26 May 1989 in Sintra, Portugal. The Symposium was arranged in the following sessions: Review of Fire-Related Aircraft Accidents (3); Fire Safety Standards and Research Programmes (6); Aircraft Internal Fires (9); Aircraft External Fires (2); Fire Safety of Military Weapon Systems (3); Fire Hardening by Advanced Materials and Structural Design (8); Passenger Behaviour in Emergency Situations (3); and Passenger Protective Equipment (4). The Technical Evaluation Report and and Addendum are included at the beginning of the Proceedings. Questions and answers of the discussions follow each paper. The last AGARD review on the subject took place in a Specialists' Meeting in 1975, followed by a Working Group Report in 1979 and Lecture Series in 1982. The purpose of the Symposium was a review of the present state-of-the-art and of the last improvements. Although the safety standards in aviation are already very high, there is still room for improvements. They are listed in the Conclusions and Recommendations of the Technical Evaluation Report and in the Addendum.
