DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe purpose of this project is to train and equip the lay leadership and deacon ministry of First Baptist Gonzales in biblical servant leadership principles. The project presents the process of leadership selection, equipping leaders to lead, and focusing leadership to complete the mission of the church. The selected group of deacons and leadership team members of First Baptist Gonzales participated in the project to discern God's call to leadership, His equipping of leadership, and His mission for leadership. The facilitator implemented the project training through twelve sessions. Participants first gained an understanding of the biblical foundations of leadership through a study of Old Testament and New Testament leadership. Then, the group examined modern day leadership principles in light of the biblical foundation established. Finally, participants were able to discern how God equipped them to serve. Many positives came as a result of this project. Several participants were able to return to their ministry teams with a new insight in servant leadership. The ministry team is now in the process of rediscovering its purpose and is being led by a class participant who is leading through service. Finally, First Baptist Gonzales instituted the Divine Servant Award to recognize outstanding achievement in service to the Kingdom of God
