In the recent years the number of industrial parks has grown rapidly worldwide driven by economic policies and industrial restructuring. The high resource consumption and prices as well as stringent environmental policies and laws have pushed the strategic importance of efficient resources management. Due to the proximity of companies, industrial parks offer potential for the development of interorganizational resource exchanges, in terms of energy and waste, infrastructure sharing and joint services. Utilizing this potential enhances the resource efficiency and added value of companies while often reducing their environmental impacts. Efficient management of resources in industrial parks requires an appropriate management concept. However, the research and literature on the management of industrial parks is very limited. As a solution the author introduces the concept for integrated resources management. The theoretical status quo of the concept is studied from the perspective of industrial ecology with the conclusion that the approach lacks a strategic management dimension. To tackle the problem, the author draws upon the strategic management and organizational theories as well as the approaches of network and environmental management. The empirical insights into the concept are sought by analyzing applied practices to network and resources management in industrial parks. The case studies comprise representative examples of successful industrial restructuring from Germany such as DOW ValuePark(R) and Chemical Industrial Park Marl and showcases of China's economic policy such as Shanghai Chemical Industry Park and Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Area. A reader will find in this book a sound theoretical framework to accommodate further research and practical decision support to manage resource problems characterized by conflicting stakeholder interests.

In order to optimally manage the environment and natural resources, it is vitally important to recognize that there is much more to consider than just the environment itself and the natural resources it provides. A key consideration is also the interrelationship between natural ecosystems and human involvement and behavior. This interaction is where the field of environmental resource management comes into play: the complex ecological and sociological systems of the natural world intertwined. The purpose of this book is to consider such matters, and to help readers develop their own capacities as environmental managers and stewards. Bruce Mitchell's textbook Resource and Environmental Management served as the gold standard for many environmental science courses when the first edition published in 1997. Now, twenty years later, an updated third edition allows for the inclusion of recent developments. The book covers the basic theories and concepts of environmental resource management, and guides students to be able to apply those concepts to practical situations. By covering basic theories and concepts, and by using case studies to show how these have been applied, Bruce Mitchell's new edition seeks to ensure that students have competence in both aspects. The text enhances the reader's capacity to conduct practice and research in resource and environmental management.

Mining operations are booming as a result of rising mineral demand, and mining companies have grown their operations to great financial success. The need for sustainable management in the mining industry has never been more important. This new book provides an overview of sustainable supply chain management through computational and multicriteria decision-making analyses. It explores sustainability and sustainable supply chain management in the context of transportation and electricity generation. Soft computing methods, such as fuzzy AHp and QFD, to identify the major difficulties for mines are discussed as are the detrimental effects of mines and how sustainability management can be forecast by taking into account current supply chain patterns in the mining sector. The most significant difficulties in the mining sector, such as waste management and supplier selection criteria, are covered as well, taking into account specific analytical indicators to discover the most socially and ecologically responsible solutions. The authors evaluate the security risks in the mining business and offer solutions. The final section offers current and potential future sustainable supply chain management solutions. This comprehensive work on the sustainability of supply chain in mining not only covers decision making and management but also explores barriers to the mining industry. It demonstrates how to analyze data by computational methods for sustainable management and offers an enhanced understanding of supply chain management concepts and challenges.
