Se entiende por E-mantenimiento al "Concepto de gesti�n de mantenimiento mediante el cual los activos son monitorizados y administrados a trav�s de Internet". EL mantenimiento moderno implica la identificaci�n de, al menos, la causa ra�z de los fallos de los componentes, la reducci�n de los fracasos de los sistemas de producci�n, la eliminaci�n de los mantenimientos costosos, y la mejora de la productividad y la calidad. Para apoyar esta funci�n, el concepto de mantenimiento ha evolucionado del tradicional "fallar y arreglar" a las pr�cticas de mantenimiento de "Predecir y prevenir".

This publication contains the results of the conference "South-South Policy Dialogue on Quality Education for Adults and Young People" that took place in Mexico City in 2005. Articles were written by participants who presented their national programmes from the governmental perspective, which were reflected in the literacy policies, but there were also important contributions on basic education and competence recognition. Accent was put on the experiences of four countries that were considered as locomotives of development in the field: Brazil, India, South Africa and Mexico. Nevertheless, dialogue was also enriched by information provided by other African, Asian and Latin American countries: Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Thailand, China, Guatemala, Nicaragua and the Arab States as a whole. Information and communications technologies (ICT) have considerable potential to promote development and economic growth, by helping to foster innovation, improve productivity and expand the knowledge capacity of developing countries, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. This is the fourth report in the series, published by UNCTAD, which seeks to assess the implications of the growing role of ICTs in economic development. Issues discussed include: the growth of e-commerce and issues for international dialogue; e-business survey results in Latin America; the use of digital and internet technologies in the creative industries, particularly in the music industry; online learning in the higher education sector; government e-commerce applications in e-procurement; legal issues and challenges of data privacy in an information society; and the ICT sector in Tunisia and the development of a national e-strategy.

Desde 2008, el Simposio Las Sociedades ante el Reto Digital, se ha venido desarrollando en el marco de la Cátedra Europa, organizado por la Universidad del Norte en Barranquilla, Colombia. En sus seis ediciones, se ha consolidado como un espacio de encuentro académico interesado en el abordaje interdisciplinar de las TIC desde tres grandes áreas, las ciencias sociales, las comunicaciones y la educación.
