John Gay (1610-1688), a native of England, married Joanna Baldwickie, a widow, in 1638 at Dedham, Massachusetts. They had eleven children, 1639-1656. Their grandson, Samuel Gay (1663-1753), was born at Wrentham, Massachusetts, son of Samuel Gay (1739-1718). He and his wife, Abigail (1666-1744) were married in 1685. They had eight children, 1688-1701. Samuel and Abigail Gay died at Lebanon, Connecticut. Descendants listed lived in Connecticut, Vermont, Illinois, Iowa, and elsewhere.
