A study of spiritual warfare and the way to deliverance through Jesus Christ. An explanation of Dissociative Identity Disorder from a Christian Perspective and the road to healing through Jesus. The story of one womans battle with demons, the dissociation caused and her recovery through freedom in Jesus Christ.
Beliefs in witchcraft and demons still shape many societies and seem to be increasing rather than disappearing with modernization and urbanization. Witch hunts in Africa and Asia show the scope of the problem. The deliverance practices of pentecostal and charismatic churches are widely controversial and their effects are rather ambiguous. The contributions in this volume, written by experts and practitioners from four continents, analyze these phenomena from the perspectives of intercultural theology, anthropology, and ethnology, and also describe the responses of Catholic and Protestant churches. Many counselors are not adequately prepared to help those suffering from complex posttraumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD). Are you suffering with emotional or psychological problems? Some are suffering with an identity crisis of enormous stature. Who am I? Why do I do the things I do? Why can't I remember my childhood? Where are these horrific nightmares and flashbacks coming from? When one suffers traumatic events, they may "check out" and develop another personality. You do not have to live this way. This Book Will Help You To: . Recognize the source of flashbacks and nightmares. . Understand how it is impossible for a born again Christian to be "possessed". . Discern how a spirit becomes the "strongman" in a person's life. . Recognize why one displays characteristics of two different people. . Explain what can happen when a demon invades and influences a person's mind. . Reveal the spiritual nature of MPD and how to address it spiritually. . Read others' experiences of deliverance and restoration. This study seeks to demonstrate that exorcism/deliverance ministry is an innately enthusiastic practice utilizing John Knox's classic study of Christian enthusiasm. The twentieth century provides an ideal arena for such a study since it frames a complete lifecycle for this rite from its infancy during the early decades, through its heyday in the 1970s and 80s, on to creeping routinisation by the end of the century. Two enthusiastic settings, Charismatic and Evangelical Fundamentalist, are identified and examined as the environment in which two related streams of exorcism/deliverance ministry was practiced. Finally, enthusiastic Sacramentalist exorcism is considered in order to establish the thesis that enthusiastic settings provide a conducive atmosphere for the emergence and practice of exorcism/deliverance ministry. Attention is paid to historical factors within the Charismatic and Evangelical Fundamentalist streams that underlie the development of this rite. As a result important secondary insights are gained into the tidal nature of enthusiastic movements, the role of itinerant preachers in the propagation of enthusiasm, the routinisation of enthusiastic practices and the manner in which enthusiasm overcomes institutional denominational boundaries. The study provides the foundation for future investigation of the manner in which enthusiastic experience is presented for apologetic purposes, the relationship between exorcism/deliverance ministry and millenarianism and the practice of this rite within non-Western churches.
