One evening, spying on his Hollywood Hills neighbours through his $4,000 electronic telescope, Bobby witnesses a beautiful woman making love to a handsome Latin actor called Ramon. As their pillow talk turns ugly, Bobby watches in horror as the woman appears to bludgeon her lover to death with his own acting trophy. Instead of rushing to the cops, Bobby decides to find out more about the events that led up to the crime, and to use the material for his next movie screenplay. However, when he sneaks into the actor's apartment, the discovery he makes changes his life forever. Empowered by his secret knowledge, Bobby is able to seduce the beautiful woman, while forging a unique friendship with Detective Dennis Farentino, the cop in charge of the investigation. Before long Bobby has dragged the detective, his wife, his lover, and his agent into a Hollywood fun-house hall of mirrors, where only the most manipulative player will survive.

My name is James Patrick Esquibel. I am a 40 year old man who has resided in the United States my entire life. I have had the opportunity to live in various states such as Idaho, Florida, California, Texas and different areas of New Mexico where I have spent most of my life. As the saying goes There is no place like home and now I find myself currently living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. New Mexico has a spiritual connection within me because of it's geological beauty. The mountains, rivers, lakes, animals and weather has fed my inner peace. Since the early age of 18 I have loved to write and release my emotions in poetic lyrical form. This form of therapy helped me to relate to past childhood memories some of which included abuse, neglect, the loss of loved ones and times of happiness. I never expected to publish this material as a book. My real intentions were putting together my own band and learning how to play the drums. Instead of choosing a life style of sex, drugs and Rock-n-roll which is known to be a part of a musicians life. I had felt a career on the road would have been too much for a simple soul like me. After experiencing my first child's birth I then realized how precious life is so I decided to be a family man. There is more contentment and satisfaction in raising children and being a good husband. Unfortunately life is so short and we must do all we can to make something good happen for ourselves and the ones we love. Never give up on dreaming and know if you put your mind, heart and soul towards anything oneself can make the impossible happen. Peace! (longhair) JPE

A serial killer is setting the most devious traps... There's no end to the deviousness of a murderer, and DCC Bob Skinner won't stop until the killer is caught in Death's Door, a riveting crime novel from Scotland's Crime Master Quintin Jardine. Perfect for fans of Ian Rankin and Val McDermid. 'Jo Bannister, Peter Turnbull, and Ian Rankin can be considered read-a-likes, but when it comes to the depiction of a multilevel police force in action, Jardine... stands alone' - Library Journal When two young female artists are murdered in what looks like ritualistic killings, the pressure is on to find a highly professional murderer. What is the link with the art world? Is the killer a disgruntled art critic? A twice-jilted lover? The arrival of the father of one of the victims, millionaire businessman Davor Boras, brings in the big guns of the Home Office, MI5 and the CIA. It's not long before Deputy Chief Constable Bob Skinner gets called back to the frontline. With an estranged son, a dubious assistant and connections in very high places, what is more important to Boras: business or family? There's too much at stake - there's going to be bloodshed, and Skinner's men are at risk of getting caught in the crossfire... What readers are saying about Death's Door: 'This book has a wonderful, intriguing storyline... an overall must read' 'Flows along at speed like all Skinner novels but keeps you in suspense right up to the last page' '[Quintin Jardine] is THE best crime writer of all time'

The Oxford Handbook of the Archaeology of Death and Burial reviews the current state of mortuary archaeology and its practice, highlighting its often contentious place in the modern socio-politics of archaeology. It contains forty-four chapters which focus on the history of the discipline and its current scientific techniques and methods. Written by leading, international scholars in the field, it derives its examples and case studies from a wide range of time periods, such as the middle palaeolithic to the twentieth century, and geographical areas which include Europe, North and South America, Africa, and Asia. Combining up-to-date knowledge of relevant archaeological research with critical assessments of the theme and an evaluation of future research trajectories, it draws attention to the social, symbolic, and theoretical aspects of interpreting mortuary archaeology. The volume is well-illustrated with maps, plans, photographs, and illustrations and is ideally suited for students and researchers.
