James Ephraim Daniels (1792-1840) was born at London, England, the son of Ephraim Daniels (ca. 1763-ca. 1800). He was appointed pastor of the St. Johns Methodist Church, Manchester, England. He married Elizabeth Salthouse (1793-1869) at Manchester in 1816. They had nine children, 1817-1838. After James' death, Elizabeth Daniels and her children joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1841. One daughter immigrated to the United States in 1841 and the rest of the family followed in 1842 and settled at Nauvoo, Illinois. The family migrated west with the Mormon pioneers in 1849 and 1850. Elizabeth Daniels died at Salt Lake City. Descendants lived in Utah, Arizona, Idaho and elsewhere.
