Cry Rape dramatically exposes the criminal justice system’s capacity for error as it recounts one woman’s courageous battle in the face of adversity. In September 1997, a visually impaired woman named Patty was raped by an intruder in her home in Madison, Wisconsin. The rookie detective assigned to her case came to doubt Patty’s account and focused the investigation on her. Under pressure, he got her to recant, then had her charged with falsely reporting a crime. The charges were eventually dropped, but Patty continued to demand justice, filing complaints and a federal lawsuit against the police. All were rebuffed. But later, as the result of her perseverance, a startling discovery was made. Even then, Patty’s ordeal was far from over. Other books have dealt with how police and prosecutors bend and break the law in their zeal to prevail. This one focuses instead on how the gravest injustice can be committed with the best of intentions, and how one woman’s bravery and persistence finally triumphed. Margaret gives searing and compelling insights into the isolated world of one deaf child who grew up in an era uneducated about deafness. The results were the very tragic consequences that shaped her life. The Silent Cry is a shocking story of molestation and abandonment, neglect and a multitude of falsely diagnosed mental illnesses. As a child, Margaret could not hear and her speech was unintelligible. These problems made it impossible for her to communicate with those around her. She then attended a school for the deaf and learned her primary language-American Sign Language, thus enabling her to communicate with peers and teachers. Her family was not willing to learn American Sign Language and this further compounded her awareness of isolation in a hearing world. She much later learned English, however, it is not her primary language as many like to believe. Because of her Deaf boyfriend?s suicide attempt, she was suddenly compelled to leave Delavan, Wisconsin School for the Deaf. The school has served deaf and hard of hearing students in the state of Wisconsin since 1852. WSD has an average annual enrollment of 180 students in grades pre-K through 12th. WSD stresses quality of service to students and parents. We focus on meeting the needs of students with disabilities in the areas of academic, adaptive education, vocational and social skills development. When she was pushed into a hearing world without verbal or writing communication skills at the age of eighteen, she was not able to blend in. Finally, she determined that she was abandoned on the streets where she was preyed upon by pimps who force her into prostitution. This is a chilling account of the exploitation of a person with a disability, but it is also a story of remarkable courage and triumph of the human spirit. A Truly amazing transformation! The work ends with the author's nervous and joyful reunion with self-awareness and self-confidence. It is also a beautiful love story involving many cultures. The main cultures consist of two different languages, two difference races, and the bridges built between them making this story unique.

In this comprehensive, practical, and gripping assessment of various forms of violence against women, Pamela Cooper-White challenges the Christian churches to examine their own responses to the cry of Tamar in our time. She describes specific forms of such violence and outlines appropriate pastoral responses. The second edition of this groundbreaking work is thoroughly updated and examines not only where the church has made progress since 1995 but also where women remain at unchanged or even greater risk of violence.

One in three women will have an abortion. Forty-five percent will have more than one. I am one in three. I am one in forty-five percent. I am not alone. I was sixteen years old when the cry began. It was a silent screaming within my soul that I felt sure everyone could hear. I carried the cry for fifteen years before I was able to identify it. It started the day I had my first abortion. “A simple outpatient procedure; we will remove the mass of tissue. You’re young—you have your whole lives ahead of you to have children. You’re making the right choice.” I believed them. My “choice” led me down a dark path of self-destructive behavior that lasted for ten long years! I was desperate to be free. “God, if you can hear me, please help me, make it stop!” I cried. Jesus heard my cry and healed the aching in my heart. What is post-abortion syndrome? Will God heal me after what I did? How can I be free? These were all questions that I had. If you are struggling with a past abortion, or if you have been carrying a cry, you are not alone. Whether you have had one abortion or multiple abortions, only He can heal the damage that abortion causes. Jesus sees your pain and longs to heal you. You have a choice to make. You can allow the Lord to heal you, or you can continue to carry the cry.
