One important area of interest within military and policy circles focuses on an effort to revitalize the nuclear triad amidst a number of competing strategic interests. The difficulties arising from US engagement in Iraq and Afghanistan are leading many scholars and policy makers to question whether a reinvigorated nuclear triad has any role in deterring modern adversaries. This volume takes an unashamed pro-nuclear modernization position and argues for designing and fielding new nuclear warheads and delivery systems (submarine, ICBM, and bomber) while also arguing against signing the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty or agreeing to further reductions in the nuclear arsenal. It also argues that nuclear deterrence remains as relevant today, perhaps more, than it was during the Cold War. With so many authors advocating for "Global Zero" and highlighting perceived dangers from a nuclear arsenal, this work stands in stark contrast to the chorus of anti-arsenal works. Because of the work’s structure and effort to answer questions of current relevance, it should appeal to a broad audience including: service staffs, PME students, COCOM staffs, Pentagon personnel, Capitol Hill staffers, policy makers, academics, graduate students, and interested readers.

An epidemic such as COVID-19 challenges life’s very order and meaning, interferes in our relations with others, and breaks apart our routine. It raises many questions in the realms of ethics, politics, theology, psychology, and beyond. Perhaps more than anything else, it prompts us to ponder: what does this encounter with widespread anguish and distress imply about the human self-perception as sovereign rulers of Earthly life? In this book, renowned thinker Avi Sagi explores the existential matters brought to the philosophical fore by the pandemic. He shows how we, when thrown into the terror of a crisis, carry the traditions, values, ideals, hopes, failures, and habits that constitute our lives, all shaping the way we grapple with questions seemingly resolved. We may then find that the crack that opens up at times of sorrow can also be a moment of discovery. Sagi analyzes various ways of confronting the crack now at the heart of our existence. What emerges is a clear normative statement: We are not only what we were but also what we can be, and we can create a world of meaning by standing together with others.

Stumbling Over A Quarter To Pick Up A Penny: Understanding Your Life's Spiritual Periods is a book that teaches you how to remain in God's Power while dealing with life's everyday challenges. "Stumbling Over A Quarter To Pick Up A Penny" is a metaphor for how you deal inappropriately with your life's challenges---whether they are related to relationships, illicit behavior, wealth, health or spiritual peace of mind. The Six Spiritual Periods: Probation, Preparation, Conquest, Power, Decline, and Servitude are the different stages of life that you find yourself in while dealing with those challenges. Oftentimes you are not in God's Power, where you want to be, but in one of the other five. To get to God's Power or to remain in it, you need to understand the principles of the Six Spiritual Periods that are contained in this book. The stories in this book are built around a recent awareness that God gave me of how to unlock the understanding of life's Six Spiritual Periods. They are an accumulation of my personal "stumbling" experiences blended together with Biblical stories and Scripture references that I use to reveal to you how important it is to have a correct understanding of which of the Six Spiritual Periods that you are currently living your life in. Written for individuals of all ages, the book takes less than four hours to read, but its unique insights can last a lifetime. So read the stories, complete the Determining Your Life's Spiritual Period Worksheet and then enjoy the personal happiness fostered by your new understanding of how God's Power works.
