DOWNLOAD EBOOKA business professional who is a 19-year U.S. Army combat veteran offers this one-of-a-kind book showing fellow veterans how to leverage their military experience and training to produce superior business and career results. Military training and experience provide a superb foundation for excelling in business. The executive search firm Korn Ferry discovered in a 2006 study that CEOs with military experience out-performed their civilian peers. Combat Leader to Corporate Leader: 20 Lessons to Advance Your Civilian Career outlines 20 lessons describing how veterans can apply their universal military training to succeed and excel in the business world. Combat Leader to Corporate Leader teaches Army, Navy, Marine, and Air Force veterans and non-military professionals how to apply successfully the skills that have made the U.S. military successful. The book is divided into four sections and aligned with military combat planning tools: (1) understanding the company and business environment, (2) planning a robust solution, (3) rigorous execution to meet the plan's goals, and (4) improving people and process for better results. Each section offers specific examples, advice, and formats that directly address the challenge of translating military experience into business skill sets. Among other issues, the book will teach vets how to showcase military experience and value to get hired, how to apply combat experience to a career in business, how to avoid the mistakes veterans commonly make in the workplace, and how to customize and translate their own unique military experiences to their business. At the conclusion of the book, veterans and non-veterans alike will have the skills to understand, plan, execute, and improve their careers and business ventures.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKSome have claimed that "War is too important to be left to the generals," but P. W. Singer asks "What about the business executives?" Breaking out of the guns-for-hire mold of traditional mercenaries, corporations now sell skills and services that until recently only state militaries possessed. Their products range from trained commando teams to strategic advice from generals. This new "Privatized Military Industry" encompasses hundreds of companies, thousands of employees, and billions of dollars in revenue. Whether as proxies or suppliers, such firms have participated in wars in Africa, Asia, the Balkans, and Latin America. More recently, they have become a key element in U.S. military operations. Private corporations working for profit now sway the course of national and international conflict, but the consequences have been little explored. In this book, Singer provides the first account of the military services industry and its broader implications. Corporate Warriors includes a description of how the business works, as well as portraits of each of the basic types of companies: military providers that offer troops for tactical operations; military consultants that supply expert advice and training; and military support companies that sell logistics, intelligence, and engineering. In an updated edition of P. W. Singer's classic account of the military services industry and its broader implications, the author describes the continuing importance of that industry in the Iraq War. This conflict has amply borne out Singer's argument that the privatization of warfare allows startling new capabilities and efficiencies in the ways that war is carried out. At the same time, however, Singer finds that the introduction of the profit motive onto the battlefield raises troubling questions--for democracy, for ethics, for management, for human rights, and for national security.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKA primer for a new generation of leaders based on the “Campaign Model” developed for Steve Jobs and Mike Murray at Apple Computer. The Leadership Campaign is a playbook for winning in the reality of today’s competitive global business environment. Each of the 10 steps it offers was learned on the most intensely competitive global battlefields. Thirty years ago, the authors were top-tier political consultants who could boast of a dozen presidential wins around the world. Candidates hired the authors’ company to apply to their political campaigns what the authors knew about business communication and marketing strategy. Then, in 1984, Steve Jobs asked them to build the “Campaign Model” for Apple, putting Jobs upfront as his company’s perennial candidate. This time, Jobs essentially asked the authors to apply what they knew about political campaigning to business. Continuously improved, the model has kept on working for their clients ever since, from Apple, Coca-Cola, and Citigroup to Verizon, Visa, and the Walt Disney Company. The Leadership Campaign will help you put these winning strategies to work for your company and your career. You will learn: Success-building communications skills used to train political leaders and CEOs around the world Proven strategies to take control of the competitive dialogue and never let go How to go for the win, the whole win, and nothing but the win for you and your company

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis book is a comparative law study exploring the piercing of the corporate veil in Latin America within the context of the Anglo-American method. The piercing of the corporate veil is a remedy applied, in exceptional circumstances, to prevent and punish an inappropriate use of the corporate personality. The application of this remedy and the issues it involves has been widely researched in Anglo-American jurisdictions and, until recently, little attention has been given to this subject in Latin America. This region has been through internal political conflicts that undermined economic development. However, rise of democratic governments has created the political stability necessary for investment and economic development meaning that the corporate personality is now more commonly used in Latin America. Consequently, corporate personality issues have become a subject of study in this region. Drawing on case studies from Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and Argentina, Piercing the Corporate Veil in Latin American Jurisprudence examines the ingenuity of Latin American jurisdictions to deal with corporate personality issues and compares this method with the Anglo-American framework. Focusing in particular on the influence of two key factors- legal tradition and the uniqueness of each legal system- the author highlights both similarities and differences in the way in which the piercing of the corporate veil is applied in Latin American and Anglo-American jurisdictions. This book will be of great interest to scholars of company and comparative law, and business studies in general.
