Eachsection gives the life history, symptoms, signs, damage, and distribution onvarious hosts of the major cone and seed diseases, with distribution mapsincluded for both hosts and diseases. A table of cone and seed diseases ofminor importance gives information on diseases whose importance is not yetwell documented. A glossary is also included, as well as lists of diseasehosts by common and scientific names.
The hosts, descriptions, damage, life cycle, habits, and importance of 54 known cone and seed destroying insects attacking Mexican conifer trees are discussed. Distribution maps and color photos are provided. New species described are three species of Cydia (seedworm), four species of Dioryctria (coneworm), and four species of cone feeding Apolychrosis.
