AZAHANI, or Aza, is determined to provide a better future for herself and her family. Reluctantly, she leaves home to attend life in a fully residential school in the heart of Kuala Lumpur at the tender age of thirteen. In the boarding school, she finds life more challenging than the simple, quiet one she enjoys in her hometown. It is difficult enough to make decisions on her own, without her mother''''''''s help when faced with dilemmas. What is even worse is to confront incidents which challenge some principles she has held on to all this while. She is learning that life is not just about studying what is in the books. And despite her vigorous efforts to remain focused on her studies and be at the top of her class, in seclusion of everything else, why does Aza find it increasingly important what the head prefect of the school thinks of her?

Embeddings of discrete metric spaces into Banach spaces recently became an important tool in computer science and topology. The purpose of the book is to present some of the most important techniques and results, mostly on bilipschitz and coarse embeddings. The topics include: (1) Embeddability of locally finite metric spaces into Banach spaces is finitely determined; (2) Constructions of embeddings; (3) Distortion in terms of Poincaré inequalities; (4) Constructions of families of expanders and of families of graphs with unbounded girth and lower bounds on average degrees; (5) Banach spaces which do not admit coarse embeddings of expanders; (6) Structure of metric spaces which are not coarsely embeddable into a Hilbert space; (7) Applications of Markov chains to embeddability problems; (8) Metric characterizations of properties of Banach spaces; (9) Lipschitz free spaces. Substantial part of the book is devoted to a detailed presentation of relevant results of Banach space theory and graph theory. The final chapter contains a list of open problems. Extensive bibliography is also included. Each chapter, except the open problems chapter, contains exercises and a notes and remarks section containing references, discussion of related results, and suggestions for further reading. The book will help readers to enter and to work in a very rapidly developing area having many important connections with different parts of mathematics and computer science.

"In this splendid volume, Richard Sylvester treats Tchaikovsky's songs with great sympathy and understanding, with special emphasis on relating the texts to the music. The songs are presented chronologically, interspersed with insightful observations about their relevance to the composer's life. This book will be welcomed by performers and scholars, but its fluent readability and avoidance of unnecessary detail make it easily accessible to the general reader. A welcome bonus is a CD with 22 songs interpreted by outstanding singers of at least two generations." --George Jellinek, author, critic, and host of WQXR's nationally syndicated program The Vocal Scene

A wedding could be a happy ending for some or simply a new beginning for others. While celebrating their cousin’s wedding, sisters Julia and Alisa encounters two different men who are about to turn their worlds upside down. Julia finds herself instantly attracted to accomplished young law graduate Bazli Sulaiman, while Alisa finds herself instantly repulsed by his best friend and superior, Gadafi Wahid. While Bazli courts Julia, Alisa and Gadafi find themselves reluctant chaperones, forced to get to know each other despite their initial dislike toward each other. In this modern reimagining of Jane Austen’s beloved novel, Pride and Prejudice, two sisters learn the true meaning of moving forward and that while chasing their own happy endings, they are learning to create new beginnings as well.
