Excerpt from Export Trading Company Act of 1981: Hearings Before the Subcommittee on International Finance and Monetary Policy of the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, United State Senate, Ninety-Seventh Congress, First Session on S. 144 I might add, I am pleased to participate in hearings on the subject once again. As the members of this committee know, this is not a new subject for us. This subcommittee and the full committee have previously held hearings specifically on export trading compa ny legislation, on September 17 and 18, 1979, on March 17, 18, and April 3 and July 25, 1980. Prior to that, in 1978 and 1979, the subcommittee also had extensive hearings on export policy and promotion generally. Subsequently, this committee reported legislation which was passed by the Senate on September 3, 1980, by a vote of 77 to 0. Every current member of this committee who was in the Senate at that time voted for the bill. This year's bill, S. 144, has 58 cosponsors. Unfortunately, there was not adequate time last year for the House to examine the bill as closely as it needed to, particularly since it was referred to three different committees. AS a result, the bill was not enacted. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
