Excerpt from Compend of Gynecology The very kind manner in which the first edition of this little book has been received by the medical profession has encouraged the author to publish a second. Quite a considerable number of changes have been made in this new edition, particularly in the field of Operative gynecology, these being rendered necessary by the wonderfully rapid progress in this branch of surgery. The author has endeavored to correct a number of errors, typo graphical'and otherwise, which appeared in the first edition. Several recent methods of diagnosis and treatment have been either added or, in some cases, substituted for those which were in vogue when the first edition was printed. By the kindness of the publishers several new illustrations have been introduced. The author desires to tender thanks to his friend, Dr. Wilmer Krusen, for his kindly aid and suggestions, and to Dr. P. Clarkson Ellis, for notes on recent literature. To Dr. L. F. Appleman the author is indebted for the index. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from Manual of Gynecology In preparing the third edition the author has recast the contents of the book and has added much new matter. He has endeavored to render the book not only as concise, but at the same time as complete as possible. To the busy practitioner who does but a small amount of gynecological surgery, it will be found as complete for his purpose as desirable, without being rendered cumbersome by extended descriptions and copious illustrations of major operations. To avoid delay and difficulty in looking up the numerous references contained in the text, there have been placed at the top of every second page the part and chapter to which the page belongs. Excerpt from Clinical Gynecology The series of clinical lectures which comprise this monograph were delivered at various times to the senior class of the Cleve land-pulte Medical College, there being present in nearly all instances students and practitioners of the dominant school of medicine. Some of the lectures have previously appeared in print. They were stenographically reported and, later, edited. In the process of editing the writer has introduced from his records illustrative cases which were not presented in the clinic whenever by so doing it was possible better to emphasize the subject under consideration. It will be noted that nearly all the subjects dealt with are border-land subj ects, and should, therefore, interest the internist as well as the surgeon. Excerpt from The Practice of Gynecology: In Original Contributions by American Authors Wherever clearness, vividness, or more abundant information could be conveyed by illustrations they have been liberally employed both in colors and black. Most of them are original, but the Editor has not hesitated to enrich the series with selections when it appeared that no improvement could be made in their delineation of desired points. He is much indebted to Dr. E. C. Dudley's excellent Gynecology for a number of the text engravings and full-page plates.
