sold quite well and earned good reviews with USA Today, Playboy, and numerous major newspapers. I was interviewed by phone on many radio shows across the nation. Two years later, Morrow published The New College of Trivial Knowledge, which also had good sales. Now thirty-five years later, I have completed The Return of the College Knowledge with completely new factual quizzes on a variety of subjects including: Movies, TV, Music, Art, Sports, Theater, History, Geography, literature, politics. Presidents, Poetry, Philosophy, Economics, biography, science and mathematics, to name but a few. As in the previous two books, each quiz consists of three levels, the B.A., the M.S., and the PhD. reflecting increasing degrees of difficulty. The assignment of each item to a level is not based on definitive criteria. Depending on a reader's life experiences, it's possible that the Ph.D. level is not the hardest or the B.A. the easiest for a particular person. When you know the answer, the question will appear easy. Many of the tests are of a matching type, in which a reader, can reasonably eliminate some possible matches. Here is a confession, have chosen items to test that might be considered common knowledge acquired over a lifetime. And here is the best party, the quizzes are meant to inform, so, even if one does not score well on a particular quiz, the answers will be revealed to them and they have acquired new knowledge of a nature that they may wish to explore the subject further. The quizzes cannot also be used in competitions. At the time of the first two books, I heard from nursing homes, hospital, libraries, detailing how they used the tests to entertain an enlightened people of all ages. The elderly proved to have remarkable memories of things they learned long ago. As you know, memory loss is like peeling back layers of knowledge, with the most recent, usually the first to go.Well, what is meant by "trivia" in this context? As the punster gets satisfaction upon hearing groans as reactions to a pun, revealing a bit of trivia, should be met with surprise. It doesn't do to be called a trivia expert. Once while being interviewed on a Chicago radio station, during the commercial, the host warned me that I was about to be challenged by a boy, claiming he could stump me. Now, anyone can be stumped, so I wasn't concerned until I realized I had embarrassed myself. Back on air, the young man, said, "Hello, Uncle Bob, I bet you can't name all your nieces and nephews, and to help you, I'm Kevin." I was able to come up with two additional correct names, but then I drew a blank and had to admit, I was stumped by a twelve-year-old nephew.By definition, trivia are matters or things that are very unimportant, inconsequential, or nonessential; trifles; trivialities. Nevertheless, trivia facts or details are considered to be amusing rather than serious or useful. The following are a few quotations from fans of trivia.

Beyond Tests and Quizzes Because the drive toward external assessment speaks almost exclusively in terms of standardized testing, we need to be reminded of the internal purposes of assessment: measuring learning for both student and teacher so that instruction can be adjusted and improved. This book is written for college instructors who are striving to creatively change assessment practice to better reflect learner-centered teaching. It is intended to consider not only the multiple ways in which individuals learn content, but also the multiple avenues to assessment the variety of learning styles demands. Creative assessment is defined here as assessments that spin, twist, and reform what might be a standard kind of assessment in an ordinary classroom. Instructors should use these examples of creative assessment as starting points, and as the beginnings of an internal discussion on what matters most in the courses they teach: What components of each course count the most for solving a range of problems in the discipline? If facts are important, and they usually are, how can they be used to support a flexible approach to thinking, solving, considering options, and gathering and interpreting evidence? What are the facts not telling us? The approaches suggested in this book focus on learning, on what students can do as a result of learning, and on how teachers can observe what students do. The assessment models presented here include concept mapping, variable grading, learning logs, moving from memorization to analysis, making labs more practical, exams as learning experiences, web-based assessment, thinking styles, tracking learning over time, and assessment in the real world. Each translates to a range of academic settings and is easily adaptable for use by a variety of instructors in any discipline.

Despite the realities of today's college landscape, individuals around the globe remain disillusioned that attending college guarantees a good job, a stable lifestyle, and self-fulfillment. It does not. Without understanding how to properly navigate the college maze, incoming college students will share the same somber fate that awaited me and many of my friends, family, colleagues: (i) a crushing mortgaged-sized student loan debt, (ii) an educated but underemployed life, and (iii) an unenjoyable, disengaging job. To help students avoid the inevitable fallout of a poor college approach, or no college approach at all, this book rejects conventional wisdom and equips students with a devastatingly effective college toolkit designed for optimal efficiency. According to Sir Ken Robinson in his 2013 TED Talk, "The dominant culture of education has come to focus on not teaching and learning but testing." Yes, college is one big test. But because the college process is highly regimented and highly predictable, that means the college process can be learned, which means it can be taught, which means it can be mastered. This book will show students how to study 80% less and get better grades, save $1,000s in student loans, and earn $1,000,000+ more over a lifetime - all without working any harder. It is possible to work less and achieve more, even in college. In providing these insights, I've collected dozens of real-world testimonies from graduates who have previously (and recently) walked the college path, representing literally tens of millions of dollars in tuition and centuries worth of time. Ultimately, this book represents an account of every practical lesson I wish I had known on Day 1 of freshman year. I'm hopeful and confident that the content of this book can alter the course of your life. It would have mine.
