Four female musicians. Four hot heroes. Four sweet and sexy small-town romances. Each of the sweet and sexy small-town romances features a heartwarming love story filled with hope, healing, and found family friendship between the musicians of a Louisiana Cajun band. * * * * * 1 - SECOND FIDDLE FLIRT Music, heart, and Cajun charm. Lauren has only two days to practice for a shot at her dream gig. But when her sister’s best friend, Tyler, brings her shrimp and tasso tacos and that shy smile, she can’t resist the distraction. Tyler has been denying his crush on Lauren for years. Now that he’s alone with her, he can’t deny those feelings any longer. Lauren will have to banish her imposter syndrome and learn to trust her instincts again to get what she truly wants: her dream gig and Tyler. * * * * * 2 - SIX STRING SASS They only agreed to a fling, but Natalie's falling hard for the sound guy who pushes all her buttons. Guitar player Natalie is a full-time librarian rocking a broken heart, a night gig, and a daughter. The last thing this single mom needs is a relationship. Shane has a major aversion to all things complicated. But he's soon craving more than a Mardi Gras hookup with Nat, even if he isn’t ready to roll the dice on a serious relationship. * * * * * 3 - RIM SHOT REBOUND Working on this song together could bring Kelsey and Eric closer than ever or tear them—and the band—apart forever. Late nights and close quarters also make it difficult to hide drummer Kelsey's accidental pregnancy, but their painful history has her holding back the truth. Mr. Do-The-Right-Thing would step up in a heartbeat, but Kelsey refuses to settle for being someone's obligation. Bass player Eric can't erase their past or his mistakes. But thanks to this song, he now has an open door to earn Kelsey's trust and love again. For good this time. * * * * * 4 - SQUEEZE BOX BELLE Robin can handle things just fine as her band’s superhero. She doesn't need her ex-brother-in-law swooping in to save her. So why the heck does she want him to? Accordion player Robin is a master at managing her band, but she can’t control the weather… or her heart. While rain threatens to douse the band’s biggest gig to date, nothing can dampen her growing desire for the man she swore she’d never cross that line with: her ex-husband’s brother. Matt’s been living in his famous brother’s shadow all his life, and he’s used to not getting what he wants—including his brother’s ex. When he volunteers to do promo for her band, Matt can’t hide his feelings any longer.

Alan Lomax's prolific sixty-four-year career as a folklorist and musicologist began with a trip across the South and into the heart of Louisiana's Cajun country during the height of the Great Depression. In 1934, his father John, then curator of the Library of Congress's Archive of American Folk Song, took an eighteen-year-old Alan and a 300-pound aluminum disk recorder into the rice fields of Jennings, along the waterways of New Iberia, and behind the gates of Angola State Penitentiary to collect vestiges of African American and Acadian musical tradition. These recordings now serve as the foundational document of indigenous Louisiana music. Although widely recognized by scholars as a key artifact in the understanding of American vernacular music, most of the recordings by John and Alan Lomax during their expedition across the central-southern fringe of Louisiana were never transcribed or translated, much less studied in depth. This volume presents, for the first time, a comprehensive examination of the 1934 corpus and unveils a multifaceted story of traditional song in one of the country's most culturally dynamic regions. Through his textual and comparative study of the songs contained in the Lomax collection, Joshua Clegg Caffery provides a musical history of Louisiana that extends beyond Cajun music and zydeco to the rural blues, Irish and English folk songs, play-party songs, slave spirituals, and traditional French folk songs that thrived at the time of these recordings. Intimate in its presentation of Louisiana folklife and broad in its historical scope, Traditional Music in Coastal Louisiana honors the legacy of John and Alan Lomax by retrieving these musical relics from obscurity and ensuring their understanding and appreciation for generations to come. Includes: Complete transcriptions of the 1934 Lomax field recordings in southwestern Louisiana Side-by-side translations from French to English Photographs from the 1934 field trip and biographical details about the performers

This insightful book is by far the broadest examination of traditional Cajun culture ever assembled. It goes beyond the stereotypes and surface treatment given to Cajuns by the popular media and examines the great variety of cultural elements alive in Cajun culture today—cooking, music, storytelling, architecture, arts and crafts, and festivals, as well as traditional occupations such as fishing, hunting, and trapping. It not only gives fascinating descriptions of elements in Cajun life that have been woven into the fabric of American history and folklore; it also explains how they came to be. Cajun Country reveals the historical background of the Cajun people, who migrated to Louisiana as exiles from their Canadian homeland, and it shows their folklife as a living and ongoing legacy that enriches America.
