DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe Asian Development Bank (ADB) prepared the Public–Private Partnership Operational Plan 2012–2020 to provide a consistent, analytical, and operational framework for scaling up public–private partnerships (PPPs) in support of Strategy 2020. ADB's PPP operations will be based on four pillars: (i) advocacy and capacity development, (ii) enabling environment, (iii) project development, and (iv) project financing. This study aims to (i) update the 1998–2008 PPP database for program/project, and technical assistance approvals with PPP content for 2009–2010; and (ii) classify ADB assistance for PPPs from 1998 to 2010 based on the four pillars of the plan.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis publication is a history of the partnership between the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the People's Republic of China (PRC) spanning three decades. Since joining ADB in 1986, the PRC has evolved from being a poor and predominantly agrarian economy to an upper-middle-income manufacturing and services powerhouse that has become a leading international source of financial, technical, and knowledge cooperation. This historically unprecedented transformation has shaped every aspect of the ADB–PRC relationship. The successful partnership owes much to the PRC's unique approach to developing its economy, and offers valuable lessons for other countries and development partners.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKSince the beginning of the pandemic, efforts have been made to monitor both school closures (and re-opening) and the measures put in place to ensure continuity of learning. These include the Survey of Ministries of Education on National Responses to COVID-19, jointly supported by UNESCO, UNICEF and the World Bank. However, to date, no systematic evidence has been available on how students' learning is being affected by the disruptions caused by the pandemic or on the impact of education response measures initiated by governments. This report contributes to filling this evidence gap and includes a series of simulations of potential learning losses due to COVID-19 and exploration of their longer-term implications. The analysis is based on the Enabling learning for all framework, which outlines access, engagement and enabling environment as the three crucial enablers for learning, while the simulation assumptions are informed by the evidence on school closures and governments' education-related responses, collected through the joint survey.
