DOWNLOAD EBOOKWritten as part of the Bambui Museum and Ecotourism Project (BMEP), this stunningly illustrated book introduces readers to the history of the Bambui fondom in the western Grassfields of Cameroon, and presents an exhaustive interpretation of the artistic and cultural heritage of the fondom. Initially conceived as part of an initiative launched in 2001 by Centro Orientamento Educativo, an Italian NGO, aimed at creating museums in some palaces of the Cameroon Grassfields, the book serves as a pilot endeavour towards addressing problems associated with antiques and other cultural assets such as theft and the illegal traffic of objects, the exploitation of poor fondoms by African art dealers and researchers from the West, and the lack of education about the different ways and means the fondoms could employ to transform these resources to the benefit of all. For anyone aspiring to learn about the rich and diverse art of Bambui, in particular, and the western Grassfields as a whole, this book will prove useful, especially since it is written by someone who has lived, and is still living, the Bambui experience.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKChronicles Of Muguland II - Brothers At War This book II in the Chronicles of Muguland factional series recounts in vivid detail the drama, the horrors and the cost of the fratricidal civil war between the tribes of Muguland when the military rulers, who had seized power by force of arms, finally fell out among themselves. The tribal generals declared war on each other with the lives of millions of citizens of Muguland in the balance This short historical novel is a work of FACTION that incorporated fiction and non-fiction narratives in a sprawling tale of betrayals, ego, ambition and dashed hopes in an fictional african nation blessed with so much natural and human resources, but which continuously failed to live up to its potential for greatness. This may be a work of faction but it is indeed the true story of most african countries in a continent blessed with so much but with so little to show for their blessings

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis is a comprehensive text on the function of thought in the history and political sociology of Cameroon. The book brings out how the hidden hand of history fashions a political thought which, in turn, creates its own history. Instead of Cameroonians making history, history makes Cameroonians. The book shows how political ideas are fashioned in a post-colonial context in which Europeans impose a superordinate arrangement on a people together with its philosophers. Thinking the nation in Cameroon on behalf of Europeans, especially after the leaders of the national liberation struggle were all eliminated, European philosophers put in place a repressive machine under which Cameroonians were subjected between 1958 and 1990. Repression gave way to a refined form of enslavement a modernised version of slavery. Cameroonians joined the bandwagon and have been producing and reproducing Western industrial economies while day-dreaming of what they will never become. The whole idea of nation-building in post-colonial Africa is put in question. This book offers students of political studies, sociology, anthropology and history compelling evidence to grapple with questions as to whether Cameroon is a state or a nation and questions of sovereignty and citizenship.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKSocial Differentiation in Cameroon English investigates the correlation between some extra-linguistic variables (gender, age, level of education, ethnicity, regionality, occupation, and mood) and phonological variables in a New English setting that is sociolinguistically and culturally different from most Western contexts. The investigation reveals that the type of correlation patterns between linguistic and sociolinguistic variables reported in the Western world are lacking in Cameroon because of contextual factors and the fact that English Language Teaching (ELT) goals in Cameroon continue to be based on Inner Circle English norms. It is therefore predicted that if mainstream Cameroon English is promoted and standardized and Cameroonian speakers of English are evaluated in terms of their knowledge of Cameroon Standard English, some of the correlation patterns reported in the Western world can equally be observable in Cameroon.
