Reprint of the original, first published in 1872. The publishing house Anatiposi publishes historical books as reprints. Due to their age, these books may have missing pages or inferior quality. Our aim is to preserve these books and make them available to the public so that they do not get lost.
The author, a member of the Geographical Surveys under Lt. Wheeler, U.S. Army Engineers, presents a series of adventures based on first hand knowledge of the West, Colorado, the Rocky Mountains, Indians, buffalo, and the period of the middle 1850s, with scores of illustrations by Thomas Moran and other artists of the period, and including a rewrite of John Wesley Powell's report on his transit of the Grand Canyon.
