It started with the searing sound of a slide careening up the neck of an electric guitar. In 1970, twenty-three-year-old Bruce Iglauer walked into Florence’s Lounge, in the heart of Chicago’s South Side, and was overwhelmed by the joyous, raw Chicago blues of Hound Dog Taylor and the HouseRockers. A year later, Iglauer produced Hound Dog’s debut album in eight hours and pressed a thousand copies, the most he could afford. From that one album grew Alligator Records, the largest independent blues record label in the world. Bitten by the Blues is Iglauer’s memoir of a life immersed in the blues—and the business of the blues. No one person was present at the creation of more great contemporary blues music than Iglauer: he produced albums by Koko Taylor, Albert Collins, Professor Longhair, Johnny Winter, Lonnie Mack, Son Seals, Roy Buchanan, Shemekia Copeland, and many other major figures. In this book, Iglauer takes us behind the scenes, offering unforgettable stories of those charismatic musicians and classic sessions, delivering an intimate and unvarnished look at what it’s like to work with the greats of the blues. It’s a vivid portrait of some of the extraordinary musicians and larger-than-life personalities who brought America’s music to life in the clubs of Chicago’s South and West Sides. Bitten by the Blues is also an expansive history of half a century of blues in Chicago and around the world, tracing the blues recording business through massive transitions, as a genre of music originally created by and for black southerners adapted to an influx of white fans and musicians and found a worldwide audience. Most of the smoky bars and packed clubs that fostered the Chicago blues scene have long since disappeared. But their soul lives on, and so does their sound. As real and audacious as the music that shaped it, Bitten by the Blues is a raucous journey through the world of Genuine Houserockin’ Music.

An erotically charged, addictive thriller from the future queen of suspense. Living in Toronto for a year, Elena is leading the normal life she has always dreamed of, including a stable job as a journalist and a nice apartment shared with her boyfriend. As the lone female werewolf in existence, only her secret midnight prowls and her occasional inhuman cravings set her apart. Just one year ago, life was very different. Adopted by the Pack when bitten, Elena had spent years struggling with her resentment at having her life stolen away. Torn between two worlds, and overwhelmed by the new passions coursing through her body, her only option for control was to deny her awakening needs and escape. But now the Pack has called Elena home to help them fight an alliance of renegade werewolves who are bent on exposing and annihilating the Pack. And although Elena is obliged to rejoin her "family," she vows not to be swept up in Pack life again, no matter how natural it might feel. She has made her choice. Trouble is, she's increasingly uncertain if it's the right one. An erotically charged thriller, Bitten will awaken the voracious appetite of every reader, as the age-old battle between man and beast, between human and inhuman forces, comes to a head in one small town and within one woman's body.

I might not agree with my rebel court’s plans for revenge, but I know that the corruption of the paranormal syndicate has to be stopped. Now I’m off to the syndicate’s vampire coven to help heal the vampire queen’s favorite blood donor/lover—from the poison my court slipped her as part of their scheme to get me into the coven…. I might not like the methods, but I know it’s up to me to get information from the vampire queen that will help Robin get back her birthright and overthrow the syndicate. I can do this. I can prove I’m strong enough to be part of Robin’s court, even if it means being bitten. It’s easier than I ever thought possible to make allies in the nest of vipers, but I can’t just leave them there. And my bleeding heart might just destroy my new rebel family…. The Love and Revenge series features a lost woman who is determined to find herself, and the men and women who love her. It is suitable for mature audiences only. Contains poly relationships and LGBTQ+ characters. Author’s Note: *This book is part of a series. While some plot arcs will be finished in this book, others may be introduced that lead into the next book in the series, so there may be an “yes, but” or a “for now” sort of ending. (No big cliffhanger in this particular book). *This story is paranormal poly romance (which means multiple lovers within the relationship, #whychoose, etc.) There will be male/female, female/female, male/male and MMFFMM scenes as the series progresses. *This story is a slower burn than some of my others, but will contain explicit sex scenes. *These characters have tragic/traumatic backstories. If you know me, you know you can be assured of a HEA, BUT if you’re easily triggered, please just pass on by. *Swearing, sex, and adult content. *Contains an alpha/omega relationship, but with liberal reimagining. *Characters may have varied forms of gender expression. If that bothers you, this isn’t the book for you. If it makes your little heart happy, and you’ve stuck with me thus far, then come on in, there’s a seat right here by the fire. Would you like a cup of tea and a cookie? Unfortunately, we’re currently out of pet bats.

The essential biography of America’s godmother of rock ‘n’ roll whose exuberant singing and guitar playing captivated audiences and inspired generations of musicians from the 40s to today When Shout, Sister, Shout! was first published in 2007, Sister Rosetta Tharpe was resting in an unmarked grave in a Philadelphia cemetery. That lack of a headstone symbolized so much of what was egregiously wrong about so many stories of American music, particularly the genre we call rock or rock-and-roll. It’s a genre that wouldn’t exist without Tharpe, though her contribution was forgotten for many years. The biography finally tells the story of the queer, Black trailblazer who defied categorization and influenced scores of popular musicians, from Elvis Presley and Little Richard to Bonnie Raitt, The Alabama Shakes, and Lizzo. The author draws on memories from more than 150 people who knew Tharpe, as well as scraps of information gleaned from newspapers, archives, and memorabilia, to piece together a story that forever alters our understanding of women in rock and of US popular music.
