ROMAN BLAISE BLAISE “Understanding the Complex Reality of the SCHOOL BUS DRIVER’S JOB” is the testimony of a school bus driver named Roman Blaise. Throughout the school year, trying to please everyone and answer every question; screaming at the students for their safety on the bus, also smiling, playing and even dancing for them. When necessary, requiring order out of troublemakers, caution out of harassment of other drivers, fairness out of indifference. This book contains important tools of prevention, asks for more children’s understanding, talks about what Roman Blaise has seen and heard, raises various problems encountered by school bus drivers, laments the loss of a colleague. It also questions the system of things and is waiting for answers, forces drivers to learn to adapt to students, raises the barrier of communication between immigrant drivers and students, and tests the driver’s conscience. It ends the last school day with the tears of a black kindergartener who will miss forever the affection of his dear white female teacher. Everyone endowed with the passion to know, should reserve in his libray a space for this fascinating book, “Understanding the Complex Reality of the SCHOOL BUS DRIVER’S JOB”. ROMAN

A delightful new book from Tom Brandon, "2013 Steve Harvey Bus Driver of the Year," reminds us of the wisdom of children and their uncanny ability to teach adults a thing or two. Mr. Brandon's School Bus, published by NewSouth Books, collects in one volume the insightful and often humorous conversations children have had while riding on Brandon's big yellow school bus over the years. You know the things your child hears at home that you don't want repeated elsewhere? Tom Brandon says you can count on them to be told with gusto on the way to school. So climb on board and, as "Mr. Mucus" would say, "Sit back and enjoy the ride." Hey, there are some things you just can't make up. Of author Tom Brandon, Larry Lee, Alabama's foremost education blogger, says, "Each school bus is a little magic kingdom where fantasies come alive and the sweet innocence of childhood sometimes meets reality. With the keen eye and ear of a good storyteller, Tom Brandon has chronicled the great adventures of his riders with a talent that makes you see the smile and hear the giggles. Thanks to him for doing so."

Bus Tales is a compilation of comical things the kids say on the school bus. Often, it's not what they say but the way they say it. The undertone of the book is the importance of developing healthy relationships with the children. The bus driver may possibly be the first face they see in the morning. When you learn their names, become empathetic to their circumstances and sensitive to the many problems they face, then you can become a positive influence in their young lives. One smile, one word of encouragement or just saying, "Good Morning" may be all that's needed to brighten their day!

Family and Friends I like to dedicate this book to my wife, Novella. I remember back my life when I was four years old. Many thoughts are in the book. I like to let you read two of my favorite poem. This was given to my oldest son from his teacher: What a wonderful thing to know we have friends wherever we go. Friends are with us when we are glad. Friends cheer us when we are sad. We have fathers, mothers, sisters, and brothers. For this I give my thanks to God. And the other poem I remember is from my oldest sister Bea. Like this, they called me little Chatty Box, but my name is little May. The reason why I talk so much is that I have so much to say. I have so many friends, so many as you see. I cant help myself from loving them all because they all love me. I love my mother and father, as well as my sister and brother too. If you are very, very good, I guess I love you too. I love God best of all; he keeps safe me through the night until the morning breaks again. He wakes me with light. Oh, how nice it is to live. Yet if I should die, God will send his angels down to take me to the sky.
