DOWNLOAD EBOOKCoastal aquaculture development in Malaysia is examined with respect to the major aquaculture systems. Critical issues on sustainability and environmental issues are discussed. Comparative impacts due to the different aquaculture systems are then examined with respect to total production, productivity, economic value and the environment. Some of the these issues are perceived as serious challenges to Malaysia's quest for increased fish production and a share of the lucrative, world's market demand for farmed fish. The major appear to be habitat (land/water) space use and pollution. [Author's abstract].
