Taking into consideration the allocated from the State Highway Fund under the provisions of chapter 71 Of the Resolves Of 1939, the deficit incurred from the Operation Of the tunnel was or less than that Of 1938. The marked financial improve ment in the operation Of the tunnel can be attributed, in no small degree, to the inexpensive advertising campaign conducted throughout the year and the placing Of directional arrows on many Of the important routes leading to the tunnel.
