Excerpt from Annual Report of the Comptroller of the Treasury Department for the Fiscal Year Ended 30th September, 1864, to the General Assembly In obedience to the third section of the sixth Article of the Constitution, and the ninth section Of the twenty-second Ar tiele of the Code of Public General Laws, 1 herewith submit, as Comptroller of the Treasury, the following Report: The Receipts in detail of the Treasury, for the Fiscal Year ending the 30th day of September, 1864, will appear from Statement A, appended to this Report, to amount in the whole to the sum of 47, of which the sum of was received for Stock issued under the fifth sec tion of chapter fifteen of the Act of 1864, entitled, An Act to aid and encourage enlistments into the Maryland Regi ments in service in the United States, ' creating a fund for the payment of bounties to Volunteers, leaving the true amount collected from the ordinary sources of revenue to be and showing a deficiency in the revenue, as compared with that from similar sources in the preceding year, of This deficit was occasioned by a de crease Of the taxes from twenty-five to fifteen cents on every hundred dollars worth of assessable property, (the State tax being five cents, and the bounty tax ten cents, ) the reduction of the tax on collateral inheritances, distributive shares and legacies from two and a half to one and a half per centum on every hundred dollars, a change in the tax on commissions allowed to Executors and Administrators from one tenth. To one - twentieth part of the sum allowed. And the removal of the tax on commissions of Trustees and Receivers, which will be more clearly illustrated by the following statement.
