Tha an t-eilean làn de sgeulachdan agus tha Tormod gan cluinntinn a h-uile taobh dhan tèid e. Cha ghann nach cluinn e mu na saighdearan Ròmanach, còtaichean seunta, agus mu dhaoine air an toirt a thaobh, air neo am bruid, air sgàth an cuid aineòlas, agus droch rùn chàich. Ach, chan e a h-uile càil a tha freagarrach do chluasan òganaich agus cluinnidh Tormod, 's a chluais ri claisneachd, gu leòr a tha ga chur a rannsachadh mu cò a b' athair dha, am measg nithean eile. Cluinnidh e sop às gach seid bho a nàbaidh Ruairidh, a mhàthair is cailleachan na bùtha, ach chan eil e idir furasta do Thormod bun no bàrr a dhèanamh dheth. Nach fheàrr neoichiontachd na h-òige na bhith air do bhuaireadh cus le còmhradh a tha am beul dhaoine? The island is full of stories, and Tormod hears them everywhere—at home, at school, and from Ruairidh next door. There are stories about Roman legions and enchanted tweed coats and men carried off by brutal pressgangs and self-proclaimed bards who would steal a song right out of your mouth. And then there are the stories he isn't supposed to hear, and maybe one of them will explain a few things that puzzle him, like why he doesn't have a father. Stories can change with every telling, and a little boy's innocence can't last forever. Am Balach Beag a dh'Èisteadh aig Dorsan agus na chuala e (The Little Boy who Listened at Doors ) explores the power of stories and the motives of people who tell them.

This book fulfils a keenly-felt need for a modern, comprehensive dictionary of Scottish Gaelic into English. The numerous examples of usage and idiom in this work have been modelled on examples culled from modern literature, and encompass many registers ranging from modern colloquial speech, to more elaborate literary constructions. The main contemporary terms and idiomatic phraseology, often not available in other dictionaries, provide excellent models for easier language learning. In addition to the main dictionary, the volume contains introductory material, providing guidance on using the dictionary, spelling and pronunciation. There are also twelve useful appendices which cover not only the various parts of speech, lenition and proper nouns, but also address the more difficult issues of expressing time, direction and numerals. The clarity of the design and layout of the volume will greatly ease the process of attaining mastery of the Gaelic language.

Dà Shamhradh ann an Raineach is a historical novel written in Scottish Gaelic. It is set in 18th century Edinburgh and rural Perthshire, 20 years after the Battle of Culloden, a time of rapid social change and development in areas such as medicine, printing, the Church, the Gaelic language and agriculture. The novel is based on the facts that are known of the life of Dugald Buchanan, the poet and schoolteacher who made a major contribution to the first translation of the New Testament into Gaelic from the original Greek. He oversaw the printing of the New Testament in Edinburgh in 1767, the same year in which his own book of Spiritual Songs was published. These poems were to become enormously influential throughout the Gaelic speaking world. The greater part of the novel describes the last two years of his life and is narrated by his wife, Margaret. She outlived him by over 40 years and was in a position to look back over the tragic events which had struck the Buchanan family. As a result, the story ultimately becomes her own as much as that of Dugald.
