Excerpt: ...It is intended that the mail leaving Skagway at the time fixed destined for Saint Michael or Nome and mail leaving Saint Michael or Nome at the time fixed destined for Skagway shall go through to destination without delay at intermediate points even though some deviation from the periods indicated in these schedules for tho 78106 From Saint Michael, by Unalaklik, Eaton, Kaltag (n. o.). and Nulato (n. 6.), to Tanana, 423 miles and back, once a week for 8 months each year, from about June 1 to September 30 and December 1 to March 31, and twice a month for 4 months each year, from about October 1 to November 30 and April 1 to May 31. Any class of mail to be carried that the Department may elect, but the total weight not to exceed 400 pounds per single trip one way. Approximately f rom June 1 to September 30. Leave Saint Michael every Monday; Arrive at Tanana in 12 days; Leave Tanana once a week immediately on arrival of mail from Eagle; Arrive at Saint Michael in 10 days. Approximately from December 1 to March 31. Leave Saint Michael every Monday; Arrive at Tanana in 20 days; Leave Tanana once a week immediately on arrival of mail from Eagle; Arrive at Saint Michael in 20 da-s. Approximately for October, November, April, and May. Leave Saint Michael first and third Monday each month: Leave Tanana twice each month immediately on arrival of mail from Eagle. Bond required with bid, $63,000. The contractor will be required to provide and maintain fully equipped relay stations at intervals of not exceeding 30 miles over the entire route.
