All accounts and demands against said city shall be audited and paid in manner to be provided by the common coun cil, and no money shall be drawn from the city treasury unless upon the certificate of the president by order of the council. The certificate shall be drawn upon the ireasurer of the city, and shall specify the fund out of which the same is payable. Excerpt: ...shall be required of every officer and patrolman connected with the department, on all occasions, and they shall not follow any other calling during their term of office; sickness and disability only shall be an excuse for absence from duty, to be proved by the affidavit or affirmation in writing of the party, that he was actually sick or disabled and unable to do duty by reason of such sickness or disability; and it shall be competent for the captain of the district to administer the oath or affirmation. Sect. 28. Any member who shall charge or receive any fee or compensation, other than his legal salary, or shall receive any present or reward for services rendered, or to bo rendered, unless with the knowledge and approbation of the mayor, recorder, or city marshal, (such approbation to bo granted in writing, ) will be guilty of a violation of the city ordinances, and shall be subject to expulsion from the department. Sect. 29. Captains, assistant captains, sergeants and policemen shall at all times, on all occasions when on duty, conspicuously display their emblem of office, so that the same may be easily and distinctly seen, such emblem to be designated by the city marshal. 0 ARTICLE FIFTH. OF THE COMPENSATION OF OFFICERS. Sect. 80. The compensation of officers and patrolmen named i% this law is hereby fixed at the following sums, viz: To each captain of police 810 per day. To each assistant captain 88 per day. /' To each sergeant of police 88 per day. /To each policeman 88 per day.
