Astronomer and author Camille Flammarion's classic work of trailblazing early science fiction. A cataclysmic comet strike has plunged the Earth into ruins. Humanity must struggle to survive. Originally published in French under the title "La Fin du monde," the story explores society's structure and ills, including humanity's preoccupation with war and the wastefulness of destructive conflicts. Set principally in the 25th Century, Flammarion's description of a news media that is ruled by commercial interests, pursuing sensationalism over truth, is all too prescient of the modern world. With a narrative that spans millions of years from prehistory into the far future, Omega: The Last Days of the World is sure to thrill readers.

Story takes place in the Omegaverse. Hobson Hills Omegas: Book Eight Injured in the army over three years ago, Noah Wilson walked away with his life, but lost his hearing. It's taken him years and the support of his family and friends to adapt to a new normal. While he's content with his life, his family keeps hoping he'll settle down with a nice omega or maybe just, you know, leave his ranch occasionally. Personally, he just wants to park his introverted butt at home and spend time with his horses. After seeing so many of his friends and family fall in love and settle down, Noah starts to think maybe having someone might be worth the trouble of dating. Maybe. As a former Marine, Zed Ames is an alpha that needs to take care of his loved ones. He practically raised his younger brother and dotes on his nieces. He even has a newly discovered half brother to get to know. What he doesn't have is someone of his own to care for and adore. As his brothers keep telling him, he's a big, old nuturer and needs a sweet omega to take care of. Whether he likes it or not. The longer he's in Hobson Hills, the more he thinks maybe they're right. At least partly. When Zed meets Noah, he realizes that he doesn't need an omega, alpha, beta, or anyone else. What he needs is Noah, the man that fits perfectly with him. Now, Zed just needs to convince the other alpha that despite their pasts, self-doubts, and meddlesome families, they belong together.

Learn how to live a happier and healthier life by finding the right balance of omega fatty acids in your diet. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are essential in the human diet. In Omega Balance, noted scientist Anthony J. Hulbert explains how the balance between these fatty acids in the human food chain has changed over the last half-century and the very serious negative health impacts this imbalance has created. An imbalance of these omega fats contributes to increased rates of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, allergies, asthma, as well as cancer and a variety of other inflammatory diseases. Omega balance is also important for normal brain function, and an imbalance in these fatty acids is associated with depression, mood disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases. Hulbert provides extensive information on the omega balance of different foods and discusses fascinating details about human evolution, dietary changes throughout history, the effect of diet on human development and physiological processes, and more. He investigates the paleo diet of our ancestors and describes the dramatic changes that have accompanied the increased ultra-processing of modern foods. Omega Balance is an essential guide to understanding a significant problem in our modern food chain and will make us rethink the food we eat.

Emphasis is on understanding the Maple system more than on factual knowledge of built-in possibilities, and, to this end, the book contains both elementary and more sophisticated examples and many exercises. Numerous new examples have been added to show how to use Maple as a problem solver, how to assist the system during computations, and how to extend its built-in facilities. Introduction to Maple is not simply a readable manual, but also provides the necessary background for those wanting to extend the built-in knowledge of Maple by implementing new algorithms. Readers should have a background in mathematics higher than beginner level.
