The kind of society you want to live in depends upon what you politically believe. Discover your political beliefs and learn the why in politics. The Political Primer is humbly offered as a way for you to re-discover, or discover for the first time, your political beliefs. This book is about you. It is important to first establish what this book is not. It is not a book with nebulous concepts. It does not deal with mathematics and equations. It contains no incomprehensible theories about society. It will not inundate you with references to lot of other places where you need to look up what other people said. This book discusses the PAC Factor (Political Awareness Confusion Factor), PU statements (Political Untruths), the concepts of Reality and Worldviews, four political parties and the Worldview each embraces, the two Political Interrogatories, the concept of the political gap, four new political terms, exactly what is meant by Direction and Approach in politics, the structure of society, and the impact on society caused by the implementation of right and wrong solutions. The only thing you should be impressed with when you finish reading The Political Primer is how easy it is to understand what politics is all about. You will understand what must happen if you are to be motivated to get involved in politics; you will know why politicians try to keep you angry and upset during the election process; you will know the fundamental differences between the political parties and each partys final goal for societys structure. You will know why politics is not about issues, or the politicians, or what they think, or what they want. You will know why politics is about you. By the time you reach the Epilog you will have fully embraced your Worldview. As a result, you will either agree or disagree with the authors final comments. There will be no middle ground. If The Political Primer achieves its intended goal, it will not be the fact that you agree or disagree that will be important. It will be the fact that you will know why. As you begin to see how all the pieces of the political picture fit together, and if everything begins to make sense for the first time, the sensation you will experience will be similar to the experience of seeing the three dimensional images in Magic Eye pictures for the first time. Read The Political Primer. Find out what it is you truly believe.

Voting in Old and New Democracies examines voting behavior and its determinants based on 26 surveys from 18 countries on five continents between 1992 and 2008. It systematically analyzes the impact on voting choice of factors rooted in the currently dominant approaches to the study of electoral behavior, but adds to this analysis factors introduced or reintroduced into this field by the Comparative National Elections Project (CNEP)—socio-political values, and political communication through media, personal discussion, and organizational intermediaries. It demonstrates empirically that these long-neglected factors have significant political impact in many countries that previous studies have overlooked, while "economic voting" is insignificant in most elections once long-term partisan attitudes are taken into consideration. Its examination of electoral turnout finds that the strongest predictor is participation by other family members, demonstrating the importance of intermediation. Another chapter surveys cross-national variations in patterns of intermediation, and examines the impact of general social processes (such as socioeconomic and technological modernization), country-specific factors, and individual-level attitudinal factors as determinants of those patterns. Complementing its cross-national comparative analysis is a detailed longitudinal case study of one country over 25 years. Finally, it examines the extent of support for democracy as well as significant cross-national differences in how democracy is understood by citizens. Written in a clear and accessible style, Voting in Old and New Democracies significantly advances our understanding of citizen attitudes and behavior in election settings.

Sam had been out of the swamp just once before, when he was twelve, and knew nothing about the outside world. His neighbors, those who had murdered his family, lived thirty miles to the south, while the nearest settlement was fifty miles to the northwest. Blindly leading his yoke of oxen and team of mules toward the west, Sam experiencd hundreds of set backs and many triumphs before reching the place he decided to call home, five years later and three thousand miles from the swamps.

Excerpt from Primer for Voters A Primer for Voters provides reliable and concise information regarding registration, the process of voting, elections, etc., and is a publication of which I approve. Primer for Voters is the title of a tabloid book on civics and the art of casting a ballot ... While it is a manual designed chiefly to instruct women, it may be read to advantage by all voters and kept as a book of reference. A Primer for Voters is short but extremely comprehensive. As a first aid to the new electorate of the State, the book fills a conspicuous need. A little booklet entitled a Primer for Voters commends itself to the average voter. It is a paper-covered brochure, small enough to be carried conveniently, but compendious enough to be a repository of information concerning civil government and any directions a voter may need.
